Sushi.
My manager is very supportive and will bend rules where possible but at the end of the day the policies are there

Mr AL has had an on/off sore throat since his second dose of Covid. No other symptoms but we assume it's related?

Purps
Thankful that where I work has a culture of generally being quite forgiving towards sickness (a lot of it is related to the nature of the work). I feel for those who aren’t as fortunate.

When I was in the NHS it was awful. I went home half an hour early one day and it was counted as a day - despite the fact it shouldn't have been. I injured my shoulder at work, in a work related accident, I had months off because of it and because of their refusal to give me alternative duties the second time I injured it having had alternative duties the first time I was on a stage review. I was dual trained, but they wouldn't let me and so I ended up off for 6 months and all that entailed.

Whereas my work now seems a lot more supportive. I have had odd days here and there, migraine related mostly and they have been understanding and I've never been made to feel bad about being off.

That’s a shame purps. I’m NHS and though thankfully never had a day off sick (excluding Covid - classed as special leave), we have always been very supportive. Sounds like you had a most unhelpful Manager and not the best HR help either.

I was one of those folks that would have went into work full of the cold before as still fit to work. Now, with the ability to WFH I’d think twice before going into the office.

However, conversely, I think there is a wee bit more pressure about being “fit to work” because you can WFH. I felt it a bit when off with Covid. Seems at times to be so long as you’ve got a laptop you can still work.

I can't work from home, like many people.

If you're sick there's no alternative other than to drag yourself in or go off sick.

With covid you get the isolation days that are required but after those it's sick time whatever.

In my last job, the management and admin staff were very insistent that sick leave existed, but no-one was able to say what the rules were, and no-one could be found who had ever made use of it. But that's Japan for you. When someone had an injury at work their boss just told them to take time off and he'd sign their time sheets as if they were coming in.

But that's Japan for you.

I was also another one that would drag myself into the office with a load of germs. Wouldn’t even think of doing so now but I’m lucky in that sense I can WFH anyway

Day 5, still an instant just as strong positive line.

Would people still isolate beyond today like that, I mean I know the advice is 5 days then released now but it still feels a bit wrong- maybe going to outside places might be ok? Will give the football a miss tomorrow but how would others feel about trips to the park etc at this stage?

Can any of the medics here advise if its OK to get 4th covid vaccination at the same time as the pneumococcal one or should there be a delay between getting them?
Getting passed back and forward between gp and vaccination centre with each telling me to get info from the other! 😤

Personally, I'd have them at different times so I'd then know that if I had any side effects I'd know which one it was from. (I did this last year with the flu jab and 3rd covid jab)

I heard from my brother this morning, he lives in the sticks in Queensland and he and his wife tested positive yesterday. They came back from a visit to Byron Bay area to visit son and friends last weekend. Hopefully they won't be too bad with it but he's a bit stir-crazy already.
