JR - I have spent the week dealing in language such as reset, restore and mitigate. Working to resume my service on 1st July, it is not going to be normal but we have to try. Certainly my organisation is focused on getting things moving again.

Both my parents have had outpatients/treatment cancelled. My sisters GP had to virtually beg (after contacting several hospitals) to get her seen!

I think the staff on the ground want stuff to restart ASAP - that’s certainly what has come across from those I know in medical profession. It seems it’s the government/trusts that are holding things back.

Had a text from my GP this week saying to book routine smears etc. Seems they're happy to resume normal operations. Not sure I'm quite ready for that though. I'd rather get in for a hearing test at audiology, but that's at the hospital so will presumably have to wait.

Would you want to reopen your services and then quickly close due to another outbreak. Think of the reputational damage.

I’d want to wait at least until 10 other trusts have been down that path so whatever has gone wrong (or indeed bad luck) is a generic rather than a specific thing.

Has anyone watched the Salisbury Poisinings. Watching with today’s covid eyes I’ve spent the whole time saying something you know it’s highly contagious- the verve age t can stay on fabric for 50 years but you’re walking around touching stuff and families still together & visiting in hospital with no PPE - I wonder if I’d have thought the same a year ago?

Anyway bed now I’m shattered.

Following from conversations above about appointments my uncle started chemo today. Pre covid I don’t think he’d have had the care he has. Docs appointment on the 1st June sent straight for MRI that night, biopsy next morning. Results by Friday - non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Following week he had various appointments, CT scan last Thursday, result Monday (it has spread to hip and thigh none) chemical today.

He first sent to see about the lump under his arm 2 weeks prior to the first appr above.

Grateful he’s been seen so quick and feel for anyone who had had an appr cancelled.
Here is hoping and praying we get people seen who need it.

Hubby has lots of half full operating lists. Many patients are declining to come, or to be swabbed before coming.

We are about to find out how parents feel about coming in. Rule is only one adult with the child and no siblings. Plus those who don’t want to come anywhere near a hospital.
