We are banned from printing at home too. We can email things to a central team in one of our offices who will print them and post to us but it's not great if you want to do something urgently! (I do often prefer to review/proof read physical documents and scribble on them as I go, but have had to wean myself off that habit).

Yes. Same here. About five years ago I had to hold a disciplinary investigation for a staff member who had been sending stuff back and forward to work on at home.

Fortunately there was no sensitive data and other than sign a form to promise not to do it again it went no further.

However we did approve remote access which then generated a new issue as they were working excessive hours and I subsequently found they had remote access removed In the past because they just logged on and worked.

I tried to offer alternatives - remote print to work arrange to collect and got told no my concern is people will find a work around and we could have a significant breach of certain regulations but I’m not big boss. My concerns are in writing.

We have a lot of elderly clients who just don't or are not able to use email and still request are reports (financial advisers) are sent to them in paper format so I have no option but to print out. We do secure email whenever we can. We are only a small firm of 5 though who were all set up for remote/secure/WPN connections for WFH even before this so that has definitely helped make the transition easier.

I also need to print stuff out to read through - I just can't read a big or detailed document on the screen without getting a terrible headache.

jennyh - we are having to take it in terms to retreat to the bedroom at times too - far from ideal.

Both of our employers sent out a work station assessment for completion but there is a veiled threat that if you say you don't have an ok set up you may be required to return to the office for OH and I am on an atypical contract and dare not raise any issues though to be honest I have a back/shoulder problem that means that nothing is comfortable for long with my preferred option being to mostly stand.

I like your desk gg - where did you get it?

We have supervision once a month in term time (finished now even though we are still working because of the situation) but that's it in the way of support. My second job doesn't offer anything.

Interestingly the WFH issue came up on our team call earlier and I'm not sure that either of the other two members of my team have any desire to go back to commuting. They both have worse commutes than I do (one on public transport, and one a 60 mile round trip). They already have good setups because they both worked one day a week from home anyway.

My main concerns (other than printing) are longer term in that when we have trainees (we don't at the moment) they learn so much by just listening to what's going on around them and picking things up, and that's much harder to do when everyone is working remotely.

We’ve been given the option to purchase additional IT kit, but if we leave it has to go back to the firm. I’ve bought a few things out of my own pocket (cables, hub, mesh Wifi solution).

Chairs are available if you’ve previously been “prescribed” a special chair, otherwise you’re on your own.

We used to have a clear desk policy ion the office so trying to stick with it - very difficult as I am by nature not a tidy person! :)
