We have a daily meeting something we did in the office too

There is a scheduled Friday virtual lunch but I’ve never been and no one has ever mentioned it so not sure if it happens

I’m very lucky to have a desk chair setup from my teaching days

BBC just said this
In the UK, more than two million people deemed at greatest risk of severe illness from coronavirus could soon be told that they no longer need to isolate themselves at home.

The Health Service Journal (HSJ) is reporting that the shielding programme for those deemed to be extremely clinically vulnerable which began in March will stop at the end of July; however there is yet to be a formal government announcement.

Steven McIntosh, policy director at Macmillan Cancer Support, which has been involved in discussions with the government, said the charity was expecting an announcement this week.

TMW, it might be worth trying one of the large exercise balls (75cm) to sit on. You can get one for less than £15 and although you probably can't sit on it all day it does help when rotating with chair usage.

My line manager is trying to bat the job away from me but our HR manager is an absolute tw@t. I’m also fighting them over being informed of any ethical type issues they deal with rather than an employee raising them as ethics cases and they’re having none of that too I’m severely demotivated. I think in the office we’d all have a little put the world to rights and I guess I’m missing that.

I am so fortunate that I have been able to convert the spare room back to an office (having got rid of it last year!) working from the sofa proved difficult for any length of time and husband in the kitchen/dining room Bit of us on calls it wouldn’t have worked sharing. How those of you without the space luxury has to be hard.

This is what I got it’s brilliant the lower section rolls back under the higher so takes up minimal room and actually looks nice too and I use a Swiss ball for a chair and while I have a dining chair here too I find the ball fine all day. Stops me sliding down like I do in a chair 😂

TMW - important to get the working from home right - however it's done. What's OK for an hour or two in an evening is not OK for 8-10 hours every day. So important to find somewhere with good position, good headset - whether cheap homebase desk, bit of wood, shoe boxes etc. Chair? I found my wooden dining table chair fine- until (years ago) I was told (and paid) to get a proper 'office' 5-wheel chair.

I sit on a dining chair with an extra cushion to get me to the right height. I have back issues so continually remind myself not to slouch and have been known to put a short foam roller at my lumbar spine to force a better position.

Our boss has a "Daily Boost" in the diary. I was sceptical about it at first (I'm not a big fan of enforced jollity!) but it's been good fun and it does create a human touch point every day.

We do: online quizzes (e.g. Jackbox.tv), Pictionary, little tours around people's houses or gardens (optional!), unexpected facts (how many bikes does one guy have? How many flamethrowers (yes, that's a thing), how many Snoopy memorabilia(!) etc.). And actually most fun/ interesting has been "projects", where we all put something in and create a finished product that we then share.

1. Music. Cover of the White Stripes 7 Nation Army - on guitar, cello, keyboard, piano, euphonium, ukulele, pots n pans (for drums). The Zoom call was recorded then shared with whole company (3,000 staff?!)
2. Rap. Cover of Ice Cube's Good Day with words changed and bits of video (called Lockdown Good Day!). That could have been very cringy, but I think it was quite funny.
3. Art. We're currently all working on recreating art works from home. (You may have seen this on Facebook, or other media twistedsifter.com ) Some of the guys are being very creative and they are very funny!

You can still be a "team" in lockdown! :-) G

I looked at those desks too EP as you mentioned them to me they look quite good for the price and temporary nature.

I also look after personal injury claims at work and I fully expect that in the future we’ll start to get claims for back neck shoulder issues, it’s a difficult one to manage to ensure employees are working correctly with regards to posture so be interesting to see how we manage it.

I had heard they are looking at sending surveys out and if we indicate we don’t have adequate facilities we’ll have to go back on site.

I’m still waiting for our site management to sort my monitor for me - more jobs worth’s feeling they’re too important and adding to my growing list of over inflated egos.

We have monthly team meetings nothing else formal, I speak to my closer colleagues But only if we need too. My line manager is also being pushed to breaking point work wise and no support & they want me (and ultimately her from line responsibility) to take on this extra role, with my job there is a lot of break points where compliance could be an issue and a major breach could have huge implications. It’s mental.
