Weird, just had 2 calls today on businesses reopening - dentist and garage for car servicing. I think it will be for future bookings (I have to call them both back), rather than open immediately, but good anyway.

Yes Bazo, different rules in Scotland, so we are not allowed to travel any distance yet, are we, except for essential (work or shop or help vulnerable person)? So not sure why LoganAir are contacting me about flights opening up to Stornoway? Hmm. :-) G

The risk to everyone in daily life is now very small indeed outside of specialised situations such as hospitals. The problem is not so much that we'll get infected today or next week, but that if the number of cases starts to rise, we'll get another full-blown epidemic a month or more down the line where there really is a significant risk of infection.

Isn't the current guidance for all of the UK still that we cannot stay overnight away from our main residence??

Without good reason, yes. Though what might be considered a good reason is probably a bit more flexible than it used to be, post-Cummings.

HappyG - the distance guideline ( not law ) of 5 miles only applies to exercise.

There is no guideline nor law on the distance you can travel to visit friends/family ( eg Nicola Sturgeon is reported to have traveled 25 miles each way to visit someone ) but you have to visit outdoors and are not supposed to use their loos etc, so in effect your distance is governed by the size of your bladder !!

Doesn't really help with your scenario of flying, but if for example there was someone you wanted to visit 50 miles or so away then would be possible ( even further for those happy to use a pee bottle !! )

OK, so it's the "can't stay overnight" that means that air travel is pretty much pointless for anything other than business or medical reasons? I could fly to Lewis in the morning, stay the day and fly back at night? Err, not really worth it. Never mind the transmission risks and cost to the environment! :-) G

I put this in a blog but it's a good laugh worth sharing. Raffo noticed this BBC headline this morning:

He sent it to me with this

'It’s bad enough that our brave key workers can’t get the masks, gloves and aprons they need, but now it seems they are to be denied condoms too. Honestly, it makes my blood boil etc. '

Going back a page, I am really missing camping (actually had the tent up in the garden!) but I have also read that sales of camping equipment are up 80%... That means all the £99 tent from Halfords brigade will all be all over the sites.
I wont be going camping for a little while...
