Perhaps the calculator already allows 12 weeks between jabs rather than three weeks.

I am certain sure everyone will be told when it is their turn. And it shouldn't be forgotten that a noteworthy minority will say "no" to being vaccinated.

I fear it will be a bit more than a noteworthy minority but true.

My guess is that we are in a "Sprint for Spring" - the objective being to give at least one vaccination to, say, the 10m most at risk by, say, end of March, with a stepped reopening of society after that. By Spring we might also have a situation where a quarter or more of the country have had Covid anyway, which might also have an influence in some way. Dunno.

At the moment it appears that something around 10% have antibodies according to the ONS.

But do maybe more have T/B cell immunity? An expert on the World Service memorably described antibodies as the bullets fired in battle by the B/T cells, once the initial battle is over they stop firing as it’s a waste of protein (so short lived) but they have the pattern for the bullets to fire again if the virus is encountered. I thought it was rather poetic but what do I know!

The new variant is believed to transmit much better in children. Not sure there is any evidence that it makes a higher proportion of those that catch it seriously ill though. I think at this point they are thinking more of heading off a health catastrophe than planning a spring reopening. |

Watching a Jamie & Jimmy’s festive TV programme. Starts off saying we’ve been tested so we can be together .... surely that is not a good message people will think a negative test = ok to gather but while these will no doubt be under strict instructions/not be mixing until they’ve made the programme but that may not translate to the public.
