My mother in law just called. She had her first dose a couple of weeks ago (in her 80s / has been shielding). She was meant to be getting the second dose next week but isn’t sure if she’ll be getting it.

On the calculator above, if correct, Mr Ness will be offered vaccination in May/June time. Me in January 2022.

December for me too. This shows how important it is to get 2 mn a week jabbed at a bare minimum.
It also shows me just how many people there are that are older or more vulnerable than me, which I guess makes me feel less old than I have been of late.

In other news they are saying that 'even a lockdown' wont stop this new variant. How does that work - how exactly are people still getting infected in a lockdown?

The calculator says April to May now for me (previously January). I’m hopeful that it’ll be sooner - work (a big hospital trust) is rolling out a 6 week staff immunisation program and I do count as front line NHS staff. I guess it’s all a waiting game.

Doc, but we have been told that workplaces can only be open if Covid compliant. So either masks, SD and hygiene aren't working or they are being breached.

Given that it is universally accepted that the first lockdown worked I'd like to see the science explaining why the next one wont

It's based on 1 million a week.

I'm unable to find any reports on how many have been done so far, only thing I found was a reference to .5 million that was dated 30/12 and vaccination started on 20/12. I know it's early days and back holiday etc but a million a week looks hopelessly optimistic especially as manufacturers are saying there will be shortages.

I'm thinking that by the time many of us get a dose many of the people who were inoculated early on may well have died of other causes.

I just realised the April/may estimate is for both vaccines so probably about right as I think I’m likely to get my first in the next few weeks.
