Fragile Do Not Bend
The calculator seems to be a bit broken because if I put in age 77 (my mum’s age) I get “by between 26/05/2021 and 26/03/2021”

I'm optimistic that the numbers will ramp up significantly from next week when AZ is delivered and can get into care homes, small surgeries and other non-clinical settings. If not, there will be mass condemnation and this will possibly be the cross that Hancock dies on. |

Social distancing, mask wearing and covid secure doesn't exist in my work place.. they really do need to look at primary children being carriers and infecting adults, why do they vaccinate a population of children for flu but not consider them on covid... We had one case in the school I work in, only found out as the mother tested the child when he didn't need a test (i.e lied saying had symptoms when never) test came back positive and 6 days later the mum came Down with it. He had no symptoms and was fine throughout. I keep hearing of children not being symptomatic but if they are silent carrier surely they need to be vaccinated as well?? |

numbers of vaccinations england.nhs.uk In the week ending the 27th December a total of 243,039 people received an NHS vaccination for COVID-19 in England. This takes the total since vaccinations began on the 8th of December to 786,000. So up to now they are managing 250k a week, that will speed up come the Oxford Vaccine nect week. |

the calculator is a bit rubbish - put my dad's age in (84) and it is saying May, in reality his first dose is booked for Jan 10th. Nearly a million have had the first dose so far. This is going to ramp up - I am not sure what the projections are for ramping it up, I guess it depends on supply, but AZ will have a few million dose ready for the NHS to start using on Monday (so I guess the transportation has already started)

If weekly vaccinations start to exceed new infections I will feel a lot better for the future.

"covid secure" doesn't actually mean covid-proof, and never has, even with the less virulent strain. It's just a benchmark for reduced (not zero) risk.

If the AZ vaccine is only 62% effective then there's a decent chance you aren't protected anyway, shurely? That calculator said Sept for me, which is a bit of a downer!

On a more upbeat note, we went walking at Limekilns and along the Fife Coastal Path. Beautiful day, gorgeous scenery, everyone wishing each other good tidings. Really nice.
