I still maintain the big surge early doors was panic buying at the supermarkets. Asda last night (quite late) was quiet.
The lockdown Eve celebrations are beyond belief but shows where the issues are coming from.

I booked a morrisons delivery for 6-7pm last night. I booked it last week so I’d have food on my return from Alice’s. It was delivered at 11pm because they are being deluged and the warehouse pickers were 4 hours behind. I’m guessing people orders are much bigger than usual.

Have to say a distraction from Covid was nice for an hour but all day...…
Glad your delivery made it GM, my inlaws have had deliveries right through since March. My parents insist on doing their own - keeping my mother in will be the issue I have, she was really good through first one but is in her little relaxed routine now weekly shop and daily top ups.
Hoping me reiterating I am doing one shop a week for the week, no extra trips if I need something and exercise only beyond that might sink in. Wish me luck!

You’d think people would be saving up their supermarket shopping so they have somewhere to go during lockdown 2...

OH informs me, MRI ICU, 5 covid-19 deaths overnight , just to remind you all what is going on.
reading back, University of Manchester, covid infections started to creep up again but at nowhere near the levels there were at, late Sept, early Oct but the incestions amongst staff are rising, however they are not saying how many are being tested, which I find odd.

So I've got one son at home self isolating due to contact with a classmate.
I work in education (not student facing, but in a busy education setting, and need to be in work mostly)
My wife teaches in a high school
I've got another son at high school and a third son who just this last weekend turned 18 and has Down's Syndrome. Daily he attends a specialist College.
Today the "shielding" guidance has been updated to add a shielding requiement for "adults with Downs Syndrome". 5 days ago I didn't know any of those. Today I have one living in my house.
As he's not a "child" the guidance doesn't seem to cover adults in full time education, so we can't see that insisting he goes to College makes sense.
He's supposed to live in a household with 4 others, all of whom are having more contact with the outside world than "average" during this lockdown, and simultaneously try to maintain 2m distancing in the house.
He can't be left unsupervised for a whole day, but neither my wife and I can cease work, and we can't rely on the national advice to inform our employers that we must stay at home too (which might have been the case in the earlier shielding guidance). My wife absolutely can't work from home, and I can to a limited extent buy my effectiveness in my job will be significantly curtailed so it isn't a great option.
Brilliant!!

Oh no. Do you know why the guidance has changed?

Won’t everyone at the college have similar guidance? And won’t they have put as many safety measures in places as possible? Is some kind of part time college attendance possible? It sucks, I really feel for you

From what I gather there are shielding letters being sent this week. I hadn't read this thread for a few days and didn't even realise that was part of this the lockdown.
