Unfortunately I can not control what others do, I can only control my behaviour

GG - #12061 - I don't think this is how "bubbles" work. Unless: a) those 8 people are not in contact with *anyone* else outside at all (the "Strictly" bubble model), or b) those 8 people are tested every day (or vvv frequently) (the Premier League Football bubble model)
Otherwise people are just mixing and then returning to their actual home 'bubble'. Like as if they go to a pub in their group of 8...

I can't believe this .. shocking attitude towards life. I agree it will impact the young but really
Julian Metcalfe, who founded Pret as well as Itsu, told the Daily Mail a tightening of nationwide restrictions would be "impossible", adding: "Society will not recover if we do it again to save a few thousand lives of very old or vulnerable people."
He said young people in Britain would face the impact of the virus for "the next 20 to 30 years" and that just because France is soon to begin a second national lockdown, "doesn't mean we have to".

UC very true & hence my approach.
PtB also agree but we cannot make people stay in the workplace 24/7 so best we can do I don’t see any other businesses doing much better and some a lot worse. We have zero mixing of the work bubbles to minimise a wider spread on-site should the worst happen. The small group I mentioned a spread did not occur outside of that team.

BTW, he hasn't worked for Pret for ten years - they have been quick to point out. Agree with you, but he doesn't represent Pret.

PTB that's the issue I think because the concept of a bubble was created to allow some normality people think it's a bubble here and another there I mean look at the school bubbles!

The real difficulty is that socially distancing, in whatever form, goes against our basic programming as socially connected animals (as an introvert it’s daily life for me but hey I’m a minority). Maybe people can keep it up for a short time with a clear incentive, but for it to go on and on with no end in sight, and being told that it’s our fault that we’ve failed, and jobs to worry about etc... well I can understand why some people say “to hell with it, 99% recover, what on Earth are we doing to ourselves?” Single people of my acquaintance still going on Tinder dates in each other’s houses, families locally meeting up with what to them seem reasonable excuses. Maybe we should geographically split the country and allow those who want to live as before to move to a designated area and everyone else lock down?

I don't know what work you/they do, but surely in most places of work covid-safe policies can be designed? Distancing, mask-wearing, reduction/elimination of physical meetings, regular cleaning of all common touchpoints, occupancy limits for small spaces, canteen table spacing, more outdoor shelters to spread out coffee-breakers and smoke-breakers.....
I don't particularly rate leadership where I work, but at least we have all of the above.
