Tim. Not sure that’s correct interpretation of rules.

Can have a drink with a meal. But 10 pasties and 10 pints I'd be more than a little bloated.

I am sure everyone has their own interpretation of what is considered a main meal. Is soup and a sandwich okay? A pie or just a plate of chips. Can you order a round of sandwiches and a bottle of wine. I like to go out for the occasional drink but it’s usually after my tea or on way home from shopping on a Saturday, not sure I could eat as well apart from a packet of crisps. Anyway enough waffle, going to book an afternoon tea with champagne

Hospitality (food and drink)

Hospitality (alcohol on sale outdoors): permitted – time restrictions may apply

Hospitality (alcohol on sale indoors): permitted with main meal – time restrictions may apply

Hospitality (food for consumption on premises): permitted – time restrictions may apply

So yes, for Scottish Level 2 hospiality, my extreme example is correct.

At say lunch-time, I have no idea what food O have to order to get a wee beer with it.

A packet of crisps isn't enough. But what of today's brunch - a cheese toastie with crisps, coleslaw and wee salad?

Tim - can you really not understand why those hospitality rules might be as they are?

Or are you just enjoying cleverly pointing out all the what-abouts that you can think of?

In my local hostelry, they tell me that they will only be able to serve indoor main meals with alcohol until 8pm. However, on a half-decent evening, diners will then just need to move to the beer garden, where they will have until 10.30pm.

a) it's nearly November, won't be many of those evenings
b) in any case outside is better than inside as you well know
c) my question above still stands.

Hi Paul the Builder

There is a perception of the virus being spread by hundreds of paralytic asymptomatic drinkers pouring out onto the streets and infecting others because they're too drunk to observe Covid protocols.

This might be true of a city centre bar. But is a million miles removed from a posh restaurant in a quiet back street. Yet, in say Edinburgh, both are shut down.

If there's an answer to my question in there Tim, can you make it a bit more obvious?

Otherwise, I think we're done.
