Pix - hopefully the new person will be as anxious/concerned as you are about working together safely so you'll be able to set your own rules together about the safest way to work together.
I've never had a job yet where IT have set up PC/laptop prior to first day at work.

Fields & fountain, moor & mountain
In my current job it took the enforced requisition of the office I work in for a laptop to be forthcoming.

Traffic levels this morning suggests little impact of request to WFH.
Yes but many people can't work from home, and others will have switched from public transport to cars during this. I suspect the numbers of people taking the train into London is down, TfL is on its knees

Largely because unlike every other global city, TfL is essentially only funded by farebox revenue.

Whereas I was sat on the floor of the vestibule on LNER yesterday, it was so full.
I think it was students going home weekend last weekend, perhaps?

[Just to counter the never get a laptop before someone starts a job tales, we once got a laptop ready the Friday before for a new starter. They rang in the afternoon to say they weren't going to take the job after all!]
Back on topic my arm is less sore today but I'm feeling very wobbly. A day of gentle pottering beckons, I'm glad I scheduled my jab for when I've got a week off

As I’ve observed before, Fetch does seem to have it’s little bubble of people who can work from home, I guess those at a screen all day are the ones who post during the day
I’ve found it interesting how many desk based jobs/workers there actually are. Within my family and circle there are very few who are desk-bound, I’m guessing that it’s actually much less than 50% of the working population who have the choice.

Little Nemo - I suspect that's why IT don't set up the laptop prior to a newbie starting, wait and see it they turn up first.
I noticed there was a lot of traffic this morning too, but for many they will need a day or two to set themselves up at home again. Some might just plan to WFH after the Xmas holidays.

There have been increasing reports of sports people who have some sort of heart issues. It could be that this is in line with normal but they are just being reported
I have read elsewhere that the anti vaxxers are indicating the vaccine is to blame. I am wondering if in fact its people who have had covid and there is some undiagnosed impact that puts them at increased risk.
There doesnt seem to be much in the media on this but for us as a group of people who take part in activities that put a stress on the cardio system, is this something we should be thinking about ?
