Andy, he talks about herd immunity quite a lot, which I know isn’t to everyone’s liking. Was it in that context? I am sure I could find quotes from him when he is encouraging folk to be careful.
jda, what makes you say he doesn’t come from a relevant background? As far as I know, he comes from a science background, and also a teaching background, and so is able to explain complex things well (in my opinion). If he later finds he is wrong about something, he says so. I don’t really understand the dislike. I posted it as I thought it was potentially a small story with the potential for a bit of hope in what has been a fairly grim time. As I said, I don’t know if he will turn out to be right, and he has his caveats and words of caution as well, in the last video. If he finds data that is causing concern later on, he’ll say so.

What would you have liked tonight MN?
Fair question. My anger at this point is probably irrational. I honestly don’t fully understand what this country is doing wrong at this point- but it’s not my job to understand
I think what’s making me really mad is the increasing likelihood of destroying people’s plans- without logic or science to back it up.
Ideally, I would have liked some guidance/rules, with evidence backing them up
And if I’m going to get a lecture on getting my booster- to be able to do so (aware now of the unfortunate England/Scotland divide)
I know that probably doesn’t answer the question and I’m sorry. I’m not particularly angry about anything that has or hasn’t been said tonight- it’s a culmination of frustrations

No, good answer, I personally would have liked figures to back up claims etc.

I agree HB. There has been talk of getting rid of the post-vaccination observation but if we did so and five people out of the one million we are supposed to vaccinate in a day do go into anaphylactic shock and had an adverse outcome who will be responsible for their deaths?
Andy. Agree totally. You don't have to be very ill at all to suffer terribly with long covid.
Big_G - I'd be interested in your opinion if you volunteered at a vaccination centre for a while and spoke to some of the people going through about their experience of CV19 and thoughts around vaccination and heard how influenced they are by things posted on the internet and not fully understood. I probably haven't articulated that very well and I don't have the energy for an argument. You are as entitled to your opinion as I am though you obviously don't believe what Campbell has to say as you're getting vaccinated, worrying about infecting your father, haven't mentioned asking the vaccinator to aspirate etc.
I think it's simple. Anyone of us could have CV19 without knowing. If you don't want to get infected/risk infecting someone else take all sensible precautions which include not socialising in enclosed spaces, wearing a mask indoors and getting vaccinated.

MN - I hear you! All this talk of encouraging people to get boosters but in Wales we have to wait to be invited. I’m 56.

LMH, I am not arguing but just because I don't work in the industry doesn't mean I do not know how to read and understand, published, reputable data myself (I am not talking about scaremongering stories, but reading the sources of data, which is what Campbell does). And your comment is where you get me really, because obviously your opinion carries more weight than mine because you work there. However, just because I don't work there, it still doesn't mean that data from 100s of people and different doctors in SA is not valid, which is all Campbell was using in that video. For the avoidance of doubt - again - I have never, ever said that this is not a strain on the NHS (and neither did Campbell in that video). And again, if he later finds new data that disproves that video, he will say, of that I have no doubt. And if you're interested, I did try and volunteer in different roles, but wasn't needed. Going around in circles but it is funny that some people say they've never even heard of him, but are forming a view that he is somehow not to be trusted, when in my view he is pretty balanced.
I have no appetite for an argument - I was trying to be helpful, which plainly backfired, so I've learned my lesson on what is acceptable to post in here, and what is not. I've said my piece, and I really am out now and won't be responding on this again.

On BBC breakfast, 40% of new cases are the new variant.
I understand your anger MN. I for one is following the rules and am careful but we all have lives to lead and cannot put it on hold forever. And I get irritated when someone walks past me in a shop not wearing a mask and getting too close.

CK2, I’m also in Wales, and it does seem to be a mixed bag of who gets done when in different age groups - one friend who turned 50 this year had his booster two weeks ago, whilst other friends in their early to mid-50s are still waiting. Hope you hear about yours before too long.
I wasn’t expecting to have ours before Christmas (I’m 42 and OH is 44), but we had a message yesterday that ours will be on 23 Dec - one day shy of 5 months since our second dose. Our 50 year old friend who had his two weeks ago was 6 months to the day since his second dose.

Morning folks So my last day with my team (proper day!) is Friday I can WFH today but HAVE to go in the rest of the week so I can train the new person (others want to be in who could do it but no it must be me) I know nothing about her at all other than her name. I've protested and got a bigger room (we need to be able to use a big screen as her laptop isn't ready) which even has windows. I'll sit opposite sides of meeting room table so over 2m apart and I will leave door open should I wear a mask too or do you think the above is OK?

Incidentally, speaking to my mother yesterday, who will be 61 in a week and lives in London, she’s only getting her booster tomorrow.
