today on the train, it was quiet, we sat in an empty carriage and some mask less people sat right by us.....we moved to another carriage

Masks still obviously mandatory on Scotrail.

Most people of all age groups still complying on actual trains.

But no-one of station platforms, which on my line are all open air.

@Rosehip - I didn't know that! But thinking about my local (London, zone 2) station, there are so many options regarding train length etc, plus the fact that a lot of urban trains are very open with no doors between the carriages (i.e. you could walk from one end of the train to the other if you wanted) I can't see it being practical.

And much as I hate wearing a mask, if it's a reasonable public health measure in certain situations like public transport then people should just do it rather than having a choice. It's not enforced, though, even though it's supposedly mandatory on TfL transport.

Trains and commuters are different beasts these days, I don’t think the mask/not would work. Quiet carriages don’t really work
