I know someone who turned off the app so that they wouldn't get pinged before their holiday.

I don't have that problem. I only have a basic phone so can't install the app or scan QR codes.

Things are certainly on the ball up here. Just received a call from local council asking if we needed any support, as they had been notified we were isolating. Thankfully OH and son had just got their texts with results - both negative. I'm still waiting on my text but it's reassuring to know help would have been there should we have needed it.

I ditched the app in favour of twice weekly LFD tests and acting to minimise my own risk exposure, working on the basis that the app was more likely to ping me unnecessarily, but with 6 of us in the house testing 2x weekly the chance of false negatives was pretty low so if any of us did get asymptomatic infection we would most likely know about it.

If I tested +ve on that though I would adhere to all SI rigorously. Though obviously now I'd be free to go to work if any of us tested positive this week (except me of course).

I am working with a team set up to look at future ways of working. What a hybrid/permanent home worker needs to know and how the business will manage it.

So in the name of research what would you like to know if you had this document provided by your employer?

Which meetings are mandatory vs advisable?
Are there specific in work days (weekly, monthly, yearly).
A list of peoples' roles and responsibilities, also contact details for IT, security, first aid etc dependent on the business.
One or two named "buddies" to help with general questions and to check in with them very regularly to start with and then weekly afterwards.
A welcome pack with a company mug and stationery.

gg - from my experience, many years ago ... a quick brain dump
'Basics'

- notify mortgage provider / landlord
- determine who will be responsible for any equipment & notify insurers appropriately
- comms & laptops (& monitors, headset) etc - who pays
- EH&S compliance - is there a suitable work area
- security and confidentiality compliance (of data, VPN, voice etc)
- hours, eg is it 9-5, or is there freedom to move hours around (eg I had some people wanting to start at 6am, but to keep 7:30 - 9:00 am free for child prep & school)

- customer/client/external comms as well as internal company comms - what's the process & technology for these
- keeping in contact, new people etc. How are these covered (I always had weekly team meetings & weekly 1:1 with my team). New staff, I found a way to meet physically at the first opportunity, and/or mix with others when possible
- is it really fulltime WFH and who decides if and when f2f meetings are needed

Personal
- any change in benefits package?
- any change in sickness policy
- what are the new support processes (IT, HR, other)
- any supplies & consumables needed and how/who provides them

- corporate culture & expectations around meeting times, punctuality, how to manage meetings if some people f2f, others remote

- extra comms help or needs? If any employees don't have english as a first language (or have hearing problems) what extra comms tools or processes are needed.

- buddy up - eg someone you can leave as a contact and share when you're off line for a bit.
- feel free to use 'off-line' or 'busy' when not at the desk, don't feel the need to be always available (also 'do not disturb' when busy)

- don't let either party take the P***. Play nicely and fairly!

- what works fpr one person doesn't necessarily work for others, it's not one size fits all.

Have totally lost track (no pun intended) of what the Covid rules are now here in Scotland. All that I really know is that I've to don my well trendy "Williams Racing" face mask on trains, in shops, and moving about cafes. Oh, and that physical distancing is gone.

Half the places round here have signs up still asking for masks but staff inside not using...it's a bit of a farce. Still, number keep on plodding along with no huge alarms, it will either get worse or it will get better. Probably a bit worse shortly after schools return, but hopefully not too bad.

If in the long run we end up getting covid about once a decade like flu, that means about 20,000 cases per day in perpetuity. Of course we can hope they will mostly be milder (as we will have both vaccine-induced and infection-induced immunity).
