I have to say widespread vaccination sounds like a more attractive option at this point.

I found a bunch of local walk in centres which now accept 16 year olds. Going to take ds2 on Thursday, seems like they’re getting up to speed on these finally given they’re heading back to school and college in a few weeks… Ds2’s friend’s mum tested positive for covid, she was double jabbed and also had it last year but I think she didn’t have any symptoms. Annoying as ds2 was going to meet up with his friend. Technically he doesn’t need to quarantine now the rules have changed but he’s being sensible and waiting. |

Interesting article where US based epidemiologists, immunologists, infectious disease experts answered questions about their own choices/behaviours regarding risk in various situations: statnews.com |

My understanding was that social/physical distancing had been abolished in Scotland. It certainly has been for indoor hospitality (eg pubs, restaurants, cafes). But strangely, our local outdoor Parkrun seemed to have guidelines in place to minimise any runner to runner contact.

I don't think that is at all strange Tim. It's similar in England. Just because legal restrictions have been lifted, it doesn't mean everyone is obliged to pretend the disease no longer exists.

I think that parkrun gained permission to return on the basis of its Covid framework, which includes social distancing.

Social distancing has only been abandoned in pubs because when people are p*ssed it would all go to ratsh*t anyway. Perfectly sensible to maintain distance and ventilation and masks where possible. 8 hours in the office today and maintaining distance, masks if walking around, and generally being cautious. What's the difference? Alcohol! G |

There are a thousand and one social interactions NOT involving alcohol where physical distancing no longer applies. This is not because the four nations' are in denial about the continued existence of Covid. Rather, it is a recognition that we can't stay 2 metres distant from fellow human beings in perpetuity. Given the foregoing, Parkrun's rules (eg not even doing birthday shout outs) a little out of step. Not wrong, but strange given that larger groups meet indoors with little or no distancing (eg big restaurant) |

I don't think it at all strange that an organisation like parkrun is trying to promote social responsibility.

Fleecy - same here. Taking ds to a local walk-in later today, after there being nothing available to under 18s just a day or so ago.
