My surgery “enforces” an annual review of my thyroid medication. Haven’t missed any due to COVID. (I think it was Feb20 which wouldn’t really be relevant and Apr21)

That is bad, Pix. Makes me think I really should change our GP though. Particularly for the thyroxine thing with Mr Ness.

For me, the NHS has been bad: last year, at the first lockdown, I got a letter saying that I have a life expectancy of less than 5 years so all cancer diagnostics, screening, treatments were cancelled... My GP however has proven to be a total star!

I'm seeing lots of people coming in about other problems whose routine monitoring for things like thyroid replacement medication has fallen by the wayside. I had to do a colleague's because they were told they couldn't have another prescription without a test and also told that they couldn't have a test for several weeks.

Our experience of GPs has been fab throughout Covid.
MiL historically had issues which were resolved when the GP she insisted on consulting retired and all of a sudden she was able to get appointments

Oh, and I am still alive! Have had Covid, no more than a 3 day cold/headache slightly under the weather thing but my friend, who gave it to me, was very ill for 3 weeks. This was 3 March 2020... She was told she didn't have Covid over the phone, as symptoms weren't considered typical at the time. But tested positive for antibodies months later. She called me, but my GP simply put had covid March 2020 and doesn't feel the need to test for antibodies. I know a fair few who have had it, none seriously ill. I have 2 friends ending up in ICU after their second vaccine though

Some very sad stories - of covid and of difficulties getting treatment needed for other conditions. It does seem very variable. I know the services I work into are doing the best they can to work through backlogs of patients. GP practices seem to vary a lot in terms of appointments accessibility.
Going back a few pages regarding covid testing and gagging. I didn’t gag at all on the PCR test I had (and it was done by a nurse). My tonsils are not very sensitive. If the swab was the back of the tongue then I’d certainly be gagging but that’s the area you’re not supposed to touch. So I wouldn’t say if you didn’t gag it wasn’t done correctly.

We got a negative Covid result for MiL this morning but only after chasing up as it was carried out at 14:30 on Sunday.
Not clear why it wasnt sent sooner but good its negative. It did make me wonder about the spreading that could have happened if it had been positive as there would have been a number of contacts and thats even for people who are not doing much other than what is necessary

Seem to be quite a lot of mandatory restrictions staying in Scotland. But most not a big deal.
Hoping Scottish Parkrun restarting.
