Going back a few pages to hospital case numbers, BBC (NHS) report:
The latest statistics, for 27 July 2021, show:

5,021 beds are occupied by patients who tested positive for Covid

3,855 of those patients are being treated primarily for Covid-19

This signifies that 1,166 are being treated primarily for something other than the virus.

I have to use hand gel between each vaccination so it's habitual though that and the washing after every five leaves my hands feeling pretty rough. Asda had removed the hand sanitiser from the click and collect point this week - not just didn't have any but had removed the holders for it.

um - doesn't really make much difference though as they still need all the infection control procedures etc which puts a strain on resources.

Looks like I might have to take (first ever) test to go to the theatre. I will do it if required. But not happy about being effectively 'forced' to do this.

Still, think that everyone else will also have had a test and they are protecting you by doing so. Seems only right that you do the same...

You could choose not to go to the theatre if you are not happy being tested.

A test is a fairly minor inconvenience when compared to getting to the theatre by public transport.

no, hard as i try i can't think of a reason not to do a test when asked. did one today as i have a race tomorrow, and was good to know i wasn't risking passing anything on to anyone at parkrun as an added bonus

If having a test means I can do more normal things feeling somewhat safe that there is a minimal risk in meeting in bigger numbers I’m ok with that.

A friend told me last night about a friend of hers. Wedding day postponed twice and they asked everyone to do a LFT for peace of mind. Father of the bride tested positive on LFT & PCR zero symptoms sadly he missed his daughters wedding but saved all the guests from potentially contracting it.

I don’t really believe in twice weekly testing for the sake of it, but happy to do it for a specific reason (as unpleasant as it is). Had to do it for a cycling event a couple of weeks ago and had no issue with that.
