Never had to do a LFT and only once had to do a PCR but would if I thought it was needed.

My friend made all the guests at her daughter’s wedding get tested and three of the bride’s friends tested + without symptoms of

I think it is 'over the top and down the other side' for someone who is without symptons and vaccinated to take covid tests before meeting friends for a bite, taking part in a race (or going rowing in my case), or otherwise socially interacting with others.

Many of you will vehemently disagree with my view, but I would hazard a guess that you are actually in a very small minority.

The vast majority of asymptomatic people that I know don't test themselves at all. These people aren't Covid-unaware, stupid, naive, or in denial.

They've just decided that the time has come for sociery to return as far as possible to pre-Covid behaviours.

Whilst I loathe Boris and the Tories, I think most people have considerable sympathy with the "if not now, then when" argument.

There has to be a time when I can ride a train or go into a shop without a mask. Go for a cuppa without having to divulge personal details. Go to an event without being tested

Some scientists say that Covid will always be with us. If that's true, when do we 'draw a line in the sand'?

The line in the sand is to allow us to go to pubs, parties and family gatherings but do tests, wear masks in some places and help with tracking it so you don't pass it to others who might become seriously ill or die.

What's the problem with masks tests and a bit of (virtual)paperwork? It's hardly post apocalypse stuff.

Well done LG with testing. :-) G

We had an interesting chat at work last week my current line manager said at some point in the future life will become ‘normal’ again. At at times when we catch covid but don’t excessively die from it.

I refuse (as far as possible) to go back to the office while life is as it is. I will happily go back when all meeting rooms are back to meeting rooms, when we can chat in the kitchen will colleagues outside of our ‘bubble’ our current coffee making facilities is a water boiler thing & no sink- no fridge we have plastic milk. I won’t go back.

I hate where we are & what we at living with but I’m hopeful that in time things will change as it becomes manageable by vaccine & maybe other controls. Like other diseases have including flu.

Last night with work colleagues and tonight we’ve seen friends & honestly my heart is singing we were sensible sat apart open window in the pub but close enough to chat and laugh. If doing a bit extra like LFT (accepting it’s not 100% foolproof) then I will.

Tim , proof there by two separate people that tests being carried out at gatherings had positive cases with no symptoms. double jabbed or not doesn't stop for you from having and passing it on. Why not be safe than sorry ?

I want to get back to normal, but my normal will still be wearing a facemask and testing where possible, as others have said, why be selfish and not test just for a little bit of inconvenience?

As part of work we take a test every day. I'm racing today, even though it is outdoors and small numbers I will still take a test beforehand

Can’t we just pretend covid doesn’t exist? Forget testing, we could stop *treating* victims too, that would save a lot of trouble.

Or is it only *some* people who are supposed to return to normal?

At a drop in vaccination cente for my son to get his 1st jab. Advertised as opening at 8 so that's when we arrived - appears that that is when staff arrive so they've just got the Pfizer out of the fridge and are setting up whilst it warms up. 8:30 expected start time!

And on the ongoing discussion: At one point not wearing a seat belt in a car was normal, now it being a legal requirement is normal. Normal changes as the world changes and as our understanding of the world changes.
In the Far East wearing a mask when in crowded public spaces is now normal (largely as a result of sars iirc).
If covid becomes endemic, then there may be a new normal emerge here that tries to balance risk and impact on everyday life

I've been doing my LFT tests and reporting the results twice weekly since we were requested to do so in April. I don't work and am avoiding socialising except for racing and going to gym/pilates. I'm so used to doing the tests now that they are just routine and take only a minute to do. Always do a test the night before a race.

Yesterday was the first time I was slightly nervous about the result as I'm away next weekend for a few days, going to the Isle of Man but I'm so looking forward to the trip I don't want to have to cancel it.
