Just because we can drop restrictions doesn’t mean we have to all stop wearing masks and start group hugging strangers.
But I do worry for those who due to their jobs will be exposed to people not wearing masks & with less regard for safety of others and people like you’re friend Scribbler definitely a very well thought out and written letter.
We’ve just had an update from work they are now looking at a phased return to workplace but not September and seems still looking at a hybrid and reduced capacity from pre covid.
I have been told we’re looking at holding a F2F meeting between some of my colleagues in one of my work streams. This will be nice but we’ll also see how and how likely it is that it happens.

Of my two colleagues who reported Covid this week (this is all remote working, so nothing to do with in office transmission or risk), one had no symptoms but his wife did so all family tested etc. The other one had symptoms, and now, 10 days later is still struggling with breathing and has been told to expect breathing probs may continue for a while. I hope it doesn't go on too long for him.

My current employer gave an update yesterday. No change until the end of July (WFH with permission needed to go into the office). August and September will be go in as much as you want but no compulsion, October onwards we will be expected to be in 60% of the time. Well, I say "we", but I'm leaving at the end of August anyway.
I don't have anything official from new employer other than that they've always allowed up to 40% WFH and are planning on increasing that to 60%, but the other two members of my team are 100% remote so there may be some flexibility on that in practice.

TBH any plans from October onwards are pretty much make-believe at this point. We will either be very much through it, or not, and one way or another events will drive things.

Back from holiday last night and LFT done it’s negative, while it’s not foolproof it’s nice to get some peace of mind.
Hope your colleagues are ok 😊G
What’s going on with contact tracing. Since I had the app on launch not really heard of anyone being pinged for close contact. But I mentioned last week someone I know had been even though they were sure they’d not been in close contact with anyone, someone (sorry forgot who) said they had a friend who also was pinged only possibility was sitting in traffic in a separate car.
Today a colleague told me they’re isolating as they were pinged only from a contact on Saturday the only place they’d been was the vaccine centre. While taking to a friend they are isolating having been pinged only place she was was an outside beer garden with a friend sat what she thought was far away from anyone else but seems not.
Another friend was at the same cricket match as me. Similar to our stand no one close enough to consider close contact, sat a good few seats away no-one in front or behind, open air and they were pinged.
Have they changed the parameters of ‘close contact’

BK brighter days ahead
Does the app give detail of date and place you are near someone who tests positive? Even then I guess there could be a wide timeframe between the person becoming infected and that then registered on the app.

If the app doesn't give a date and time, I think it is a big ask to expect someone to self-isolate.

It gives a date but not a time, I think.
