Not too dissimilar here. A lot of models I've been looking at are low/out of stock in the main sizes.

Second hand prices have soared too. I've been following a few on Facebook marketplace and ebay, they went for silly money.

Is there a free phone app that does route setting and navigation on the bike? I don't have a specific bike Garmin that does it (I use my running watch) but I want to go exploring at the weekend.

I'm also a tightarse and don't want to pay if I can help it, certainly not a monthly subscription.

Not sure if this is the best thread or if I should start a new one. Looking at getting a bike but clueless. I don’t want something too expensive as I don’t intend racking up hundreds of miles but was thinking we have some lovely quiet roads round about that I would possibly feel safe on. Any tips or advice would be welcome.

LG I would suggest a hybrid. Sort of midway between a heavy old fashioned bike or mountain bike and a super speedy road bike. Flat handlebars rather than racing 'drop' ones.

Depends on your budget, but a friend who is in a similar situation to you bought a Specialized Sirrus a month or so back and it's ideal for this. Alternatively Decathlon do a v g range e.g. the Riverside, and opened some stores last week. Avoid most Halfords bikes except the Boardman range, but these are not cheap. Finally you don't need front shock absorbers on the forks like a mountain bike. They are unnecessary weight and gimmickly for most cheaper bikes.
fmail me if you need any more help.

I'm waiting for Dvorak to come in and suggest an e-bike bike
