While Raptor Knitted Socks by Night
Even a basic Garmin Edge will talk to a cadence sensor, and I get a reasonably consistent power estimate on downloading my rides on to Strava. We recently bought an 820 for eL Bee! because it was the best value for what he needed and it does all these things and talks to your 'phone. We thought the additional features on the 1000 would be a nuisance rather than an asset.

Text messages on the 1000 strike me as A Useful Thing. I get them on my 520 but not on my 800, which is powered by coal and doesn't have the most up to date mapping, so it doesn't have new developments like Milton Keynes or Luton.

Sorry, for 1000 above read 1030. The big downside of course is it is the size of a modest aircraft carrier.

eL Bee!
Get the angle right on an out-front holder and you'll be able to fly with the 1030 ;)

I think downhill into a headwind that's entirely possible :)

I posted this elsewhere, but you might have missed it. I think it's lovely - I just don't know who would actually use it.

It's an expensive old do this technological lark! I'm slowly figuring it out. I'm looking mainly at just using the phone for navigation now and the watch to record it all.

I'm thinking of getting a bike bag (a bag for carrying my bike in, rather than one to carry on my bike) and wondered if anyone has any good or bad comments on any particular model.

I don't want something that Samsonite might make for transporting a cello, but equally, something more substantial than a suit bag you might pick up at a dry-cleaner's. Any thoughts?

I think the consensus on Smell would probably be BikeBox Alan - bikeboxalan.com

very impressive, but I think that fits into the Samsonite category ;-)

just need something to keep the inside of the car clean, without taking up too much space (hence a bag, rather than a box)
