I think I used to get jars of minced garlic and ginger from shops selling Indian spices. Good for when I wanted to make a big batch of a curry sauce.

Garlic bulbs are pretty much like onions - you wouldn't keep those in the fridge would you, Pix? I can't imagine not using enough garlic to warrant buying fresh. A three bulb string is my usual - and there are only two of us.

It's years since I bought fresh tbh We grow onions and I was thinking grow garlic! Which would mean I'd have lots which was enough reason why I thought of this

Agree with Sally though - and if you don't have any Indian shops then the world food sections in the big supermarkets often have much better value spices and other ingredients than those little jars.

I buy my spices bulk on line. I use half a tiny pot a day, so ditched those long ago and grow my own garlic. I use at least a bulb a week. I will have a look to see what garlic offerings they have of the "lazy" variety and feed back.

I split the garlic into cloves, peel and freeze then use straight from frozen.

I used to buy garlic salt but it always went solid on me before I could use it. These days I buy organic garlic in Sainsbury's and it usually lasts me for months in the cupboard where I keep onions and potatoes.
