Not sure if you can read that. My scribble tells me it's from the Be-ro book and I have at least two copies of that if not three.

No wonder you liked my parkin, Linds - that's very like what I do now. I just modern it up a bit using part rye flour. H&B usually have all oatmeal grades, Sains sometimes. Mornflake is a reliable, stoneground brand.

Mum always insisted the right size of tin was vital. Don't know if it's the way he has photographed (from above I think) but OS' version looks too shallow to me.

I confess that when I needed oatmeal recently, I bought it from Amazon. I looked at Tesco etc online and no one seemed to sell it.

I got the pinhead oatmeal from a farm shop on the way down from the lake district......I'll have to try black treacle next time.
