I'm still trying to get to the bottom of that, panad. I must confess to being a little bit worried....

I love gooseberry jam but haven't had it for years. I moved my gooseberries at the allotment, and accidentally split some when I dug them up, so they're sulking a bit. I'm hoping next year will be a better year for them.

Blackcurrant is my jam of choice too though I'll happily pay for a jar of gooseberry if you have a spare HB - not one that's easy to buy. I actually prefer the fruit spreads to jam usually as despite a bad cake habit I don't actually have a very sweet tooth.

Linds - maybe LittleD was self-soothing? Baking is my default distraction activity, there's definitely something therapeutic about it.

LMH - Tiptree do a decent gooseberry

I currently have 4 young adults trying to strip my bushes of fruit as the crows have found them - from experience I know it will be less than 24 hours before the bushes are bare unless we get there first

Thanks HB - I will have to see if I can find anywhere that stocks it.

Yes, possibly. I'm just glad she was doing something constructive. And that we have biscuits :)

We made gooseberry and orange marmalade last year. It’s my new favourite breakfast preserve.
