runnyeyes
It is a lot of sugar...but 250g is for the sponge and 150 g for the syrup. I’m not saying ‘so that makes it fine’ but at least I understand the cake recipe proportions now.
Lemon drizzle traybake is a favourite here, but I’ve not tried with oats.
Thanks jacdaw.

OH's scones are looking and smelling good - he's gone to get jam to put on them (I forgot to look for clotted cream last night though).

Porridge oats whizz well in a blender or food processor for the Dan Lepard lemon drizzle recipe. Don't worry if you can't get oatmeal, but use if it if you have it already.

They do look nice - I'd like to have a partner who bakes - or even cooks!
I appreciate that runnyeyes but it's still loads more than my lemon polenta, lemon drizzle or iced lemon flat cake recipes.
How much have you reduced it too jacdaw? I'm guessing you could probably just about halve that in the drizzle and maybe lose a quarter in the cake?

I've still not made a properly good batch of sweet scones. In over 20 yrs of trying. I have made decent cheese scones and cobbler though.
