Brilliant ATOTD - well done.
My 5K journey is still improving but I think I am getting close to my limit.
I've taken 19 seconds off my last February update to run 5K in 19:07 for a WAVA of 72.74%
I felt pretty sick afterwards and couldn't really eat for about 2 hours. I'll try again next week but kind of dreading that level of unpleasantness.

Superb effort on your 19 seconds @ Kieren, that is a fair whack, yep your right these shorter distances are total "eyeballs oot " affairs. lol.
Thanks Goofee..

Great effort Kieren
One of the things that struck me volunteering at the end of an Ashton Court parkrun, was that the fastest finishers all appeared to be absolutely shattered, whereas those a bit further back were less so. I think one of the things that sets the fastest runners apart is the ability to really push on to the nearly killing themselves stage!

Dill, I would say that there are examples both ways - folk at 30 mins plus can still be pushing 100% and there are some folk at sub 17 who are jogging. I have seen both! But probably less common, I accept. G

Thanks guys.
I think it's all relative - the pain zone is just effort above threshold. I know certainly when I was in the low 60% range, the discomfort was about the same if I paced well.
I think all that has changed is that I've been doing this loop more or less every 2 weeks since May, so I have refined the pacing strategy for each incline, dip etc. I wouldn't say my pacing is perfect but the last run I think I had narrowed the scope between underperforming and blowing up.
I can't wait until June when local lockdown eases and hopefully I can do it in an actual race.
