Dill, Goofee, thanks
Dill, I find the same, but I'm of a similar vintage. I just assume it means I'm not one of those runners who gets better with increasing distance ad infinitum.

My WAVA sweet-spot is between 5k and Half-Marathon, my feeling is that Half is my strongest distance, anything further and WAVA falls off a cliff. This used to be borne out by 2010 WAVA calculations, but is not so clear under the new rating.

So, to answer your question Dill I think we all have an individual strongest distance, based on genetic predisposition, which remains constant as we age. I once spoke about this with a runner who was well into his eighties and he said his WAVAs had remained more or less constant throughout the years.

Congratulations V'rap.
Looking at my stats, 5k is definitely my strongest. Way out of shape now, but that is my one 79 wava aim for this year

Well done V'rap! Looking forward to hear how you get on the weekend race.
So far as WAVA, 5K is my highest rated but I think that is due to practice at the distance and it being a bit easier to be consistent / not injured compared to longer runs like half-marathon and up - at least for me
