Been listening to the new Lana Del Ray as a few people in here were liking it. Really struggling with it. Haven't minded what i've heard of her in the past but I'm just finding it a bit dull. Will give it a bit more time before I review.
Going to be giving H. Hawklines new one a listen too as I've liked what i've heard.
Will try Boygenius too

New H Hawkline one is lovely, delicate melancholic vibe throughout, reminiscent of Gruff Rhys in places, Cate Le Bon on sax - what higher recommendations could there be? Review incoming shortly.

I feel the same way about the Lana Del Ray album El Duderino. I started off thinking it was going to be great but it is much too long. I disliked it more and more as it went on. I think I can pinpoint the problem to three simple words: Jack F***ing Antonoff. He's the svengali behind so many American artists, like a modern day Stock Aitken & Waterman: he just renders everyone the same. Effectively, he's made another Taylor Swift album only with Lana Del Ray.

Ah, I've been meaning to listen to that (Lana Del Ray). Suddenly not feeling so keen.

Others have really enjoyed it but it's the same problem as one of Swift's more recent album: a good 45 minutes of songs stretched out to 1hr17. Standard Antonoff playbook.

YMMV

On a happier note I have listened to and enjoyed to varying degrees, the new albums from M83, boygenius and The New Pornographers.

I'll stick some reviews up soon, but I need to listen to the boygenius one again as I am really not sure what I think.

Most songs are too long, I find. Whole albums of overlong songs with bonus tracks and additional material, remixes, etc. really piss me off, especially remastered old stuff.

That goes for the last 3 LDR lps too. There's always at least 3 songs too many, if not 5 or 6. What happened to 9-10 songs, not a minute over 40?
