The Scribbler
Yoga can be a wonderful de-stresser. When I was going through huge job stresses and facing redundancy it was the one bright spot in my week. I do pilates now, but am still a big yoga fan. The trick is to find a good teacher who suits your style.

well, all classes shopuld be able to cater for beginners if the teacher is half decent

personally I would go for hatha yoga(tho my fave is DRU-not avalable everywhere)
Ashtanga is more of a fast class
the clas should ideally last 90 mins, to allow for relaxation at the beginning and end of the class
It very much depends on the individual teachers though

Magbag - Iyengar yoga would be ideal ("hatha" yoga is a generic term BTW for any yoga focusing on physical postures and breathing). You can find a teacher or class near to you on the following website by entering your postcode down the right hand side. All teachers on here have gone through a rigorous 2 1/2 year training program and examination before they are allowed to teach. Focus is on alignment and safety in postures so ideal compliment to running!

10k row and 1 hour swim for me this morning so feeling very smug now!

About This Thread

Maintained by Legless
A thread for those feeling left out by all the "1000 miles in 2011" threads etc Let's track Hours instead of Miles!

WHATEVER YOU CLASS AS 'TRAINING' COUNTS AS TRAINING.

To get your name in lights here on the thread header, please join the group, then keep a note of your target and progress in there. I'll copy it in here periodically!

Hour targets...
Target . . . Aug ... Sept ....... Oct ..........Nov
% . . . 66.6% ... 74.8% ...... 83.3% .....91.8%
200 . . . 133.2 ... 149.6 ....... 166.6 ......183.6
250 . . . 166.5 ... 187.0 ...... 208.25 ......229.5
300 . . . 199.8 ... 224.4 ....... 249.9 ..... 275.4
365 . . . 243.1 ... 273.02 ..... 304.0 ...... 335.1
400 . . . 266.4 ... 299.2 ...... 333.2 ..... 367.2
500 . . . 333.0 ... 374.0 ....... 416.5 ..... 459.0

Remember, you can set your own target. Doesn't have to be 365 hours. Doesn't even have to be annual. Could be, "I will do 20 hours training in March." or "I will average 3 hours a week for the next 3 months." or "I will do 150 hours for the rest of the year." or whatever. You decide it, plan it, state it, then let's all go do it!!
