Aaah yes Huntsman.
It is a proxy for fat loss. But weight loss could easily come from loss of muscle. Indeed weight gain could see a drop in percentage body fat :-)

It's funny how people can get hung up about how much they think they should weigh, or the size of their trousers. Indeed I know a runner getting blisters because she "can't be a size 9" in trainers as that's too big for her? So rather than choose shoes that fit she wears what she thinks she should.

My weight has gone up recently. I only know because I was weighing the case to see how much more olive oil I could get in it :-) But my percentage body fat has stayed the same. Indeed, My middle is slightly thicker, but I have been doing a few more hanging leg raises etc... Couldn't give a stuff about that. I'll trade it for being able to pull over a high bar any day. :-)

That's the good thing for me! I've not lost leg muscle at all, in fact my thighs have expanded by a good couple of inches, with the weight going down.

The weight vs racing is a very interesting one Fenners.

Obviously if it is inactive weight i.e. fat then it is a no brainer.
Gets more complicated as you start to factor in where that extra muscle might come into effect. Stabilisation, increased economy etc...

But what I have found is shorter recovery times, less soreness from pack carrying etc the stronger I get. But I am slow and old and not interested in "racing", I just like the odd 50 for a day out now :-)

Indeed, deliberately sacrificing some running "ability" to become more rounded.

(Though a youngest daughter that is into gymnastics is testing me a lot at the moment :-P )

Actually, I'm a fairly good weight for my height, most say I'm tiny but I'm not! When I moved to the UK the first time around, I was 7 stone...then again that was 1992. I like my food, so if I get too thin, I'm also tired or hungry!

As a sideline to all this weight/shape discussion (I'm really rocking the very short but also quite chunky look for 2017), can I throw in the wish to see some consistency in t-shirt sizing?

Tried on my new t-shirt from the Connemarathon yesterday. It's a Medium, which I tend to go for despite being undertall, because I often require a bit more width than Small usually provides. This one is just about the right width and length, which is good as they can sometimes look like dresses on me, but it has teeny-tiny sleeves, a very snug fit around the shoulders and upper arms.

It's going to be sea bass for Posh Fish Wednesday tea.

Doc, it's just as bad for blokes. I sympathise.

I'm 6ft and quite like the Aldi bamboo t-shirts. Cheap & good. Size small (I'm 6ft so not the shortest of blokes) fits me nicely and doesn't need ironing. Unfortunately, no longer can you buy a small from them.
In a trend that follows the nations growing girth, I can buy a XXXXL etc... Heaven help anyone that is actually small and wants to buy something that doesn't drown them :-)

We ran this afternoon. There was hail.

My homemade pizza hasn't wholly a success. I've been using a pizza stone.

There will be another attempt in the future.
