Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh no HS, hope your ok. I always carry my phone and ICE info with me, I have a flipbelt type thing. On some runs I wouldn't see anyone for hours so found it very important to carry it, especially on more remote routes. Also nice to get some photos too.

Sounds like everyone managed some decent running over the weekend and good to hear injuries are improving and that you are better GG.

I am not too sure about mine though. It hurt last Tuesday night for a little bit during the 1.5 miles I did. It eased off. Had a very busy day at work and did lots of walking including lots of stairs, I wondered if that had something to do with it. It niggled away on my other runs too. Got the physio today so will see. I also really hurt my back at the weekend, which is not good either. Not sure how it happened either - I picked up the wee man (he's about 10kg) and walked a little bit carrying him (do this all the time) and when I popped him down I was in agony.

Oh gosh, HS. Everyone has already said all the good stuff, but do be kind to yourself and try not to fret over "not running" for a few days.

I can definitely recommend a phone holder of some description, arm or waist hillstrider. It is a security blanket for yourself and those closest to you. I have downloaded an app so I could be found if I'm not back home when I say.

Lesley, you are only half my age so you may think what I say is not so relevant to you. However, the best advice I received when much younger was that when having to bend down, always bend at the knees and not at the waist - let your thighs take the strain.

HS, I do sympathise, as I had 3 falls in less than a year about 4 or 5 years ago. At our age, we recover more slowly than those young'uns, so we should be more wary; also fractures etc. are more likely. I don't have a smart-phone, but just a small, stone-age model, which neatly fits into the back zip-up pocket in my shorts. My wife has a belt which accommodates her phone and keys etc. Some form of ID is useful - perhaps a bracelet or something hanging from your neck. I wish you a speedy recovery and back to winning ways again!

GG, I do have a waist belt which holds my phone and keys, I must wear it more often for solo forest runs.

Thanks Lesley, I'm ok, but still aching. Sorry to hear about your back, it must be very painful, and I hope the physio can sort it out.

Thanks 3M and FF, as I've said above, I do have a waist belt, and must wear it more often.

Evangel, I do exactly as you explained, bending at the knees, and not the waist. I also try to stand up from an arm chair without pressing down on the arms to help me up. We definitely take longer to recover these days, and falls do hurt more.
Thanks, I'll be up and running again ASAP.

Does anyone have the "Just 3 Words" app to pin point their location? The problem in the New Forest is that in some parts, it is impossible to get a signal.

I must get that one GG. My last fall ended up with a broken arm which needed surgery.

I was 1 mile away from where I started and had to walk back to my car.

I must start wearing my waist pack and BRING my phone.
