Steve, it does seem quite sensible and mature to give speedwork a miss during this rather warm weather. I've done none myself, but just a few runs with 'brisk' sectors.

I ran 5 miles on the shaded section of cycleway today. I ran at a fairly easy pace. No run tomorrow, but hopefully when I run again it will be a little cooler.

I did a short easy one this evening after the sun had cooled. Running rest day tomorrow but going for a swim. Big run on Friday with my friend who's marathon training. She has a 15 I am starting with her and will see how long I can keep her company.

I'm guessing that you'll make an early start to that 15 LL if it's still very warm. I'm sure you'll stick with her until the end. Looks like the excessive heat might change soon though.
Another four miler on a hilly route (note..my hill work as I promised myself!!) on what was the warmest early morning so far. Luckily at just 20c though it isn't a problem although the sun makes it feel warmer than that.

Well done Evangel, good idea running in the shade, where possible.

Good luck on Friday LL, running with a friend that is doing 15 miles. I hope you will be able to go the whole distance.

Well done Steve, persevering with hill running, especially in the heat.

I ran a solo 14k in the forest with a negative split. I seemed to get stronger mile on mile. I must be acclimatising to the heat🌞

Typical innit?!! And we're told the heat will soon wane!! We are bound to get acclimatised as it seems you are hs with that stronger mile on mile. I cautiously think I'm going along in that direction too although every other day is doing me good too. For now. Only weights etc today.

Managed the 15 today. Look away Steve and HS as it was 14:75 when I got back and I didn’t round up 😆
My friend struggled a bit after 10 so the pace was easy for me.

I agree Steve, it's the same every year, once we get used to the heat, it cools down.

Well done LL, and kudos for not rounding up. I'm sure that I would have, even if I had to walk it.

Tomorrow will be the 70th consecutive not a parkrun 5k, so we will be putting extra effort in. That will be the last to be included in the Club's League Table, as some parkruns are restarting. It's possible that Independent 5k's will be recorded once a month.

Thanks LL, we will be aiming for sub 27 minutes. This might be difficult though, as heavy rain is forecast for this evening and tomorrow. The trails were just about drying out, but will probably be muddy again, typical ☹
