Just over seven miles in absolutely perfect weather early this morning. Enjoyed it too. Hope that race goes well hs!; I'm in no hurry to recommence pre lockdown mixing although I am something of a solitary bloke anyway. What with Sam Kendricks being tested positive for covid it shows that the virus lurks and still pounces.
Hope all's well now LL.

Thanks LL and Steve for your encouragement for my first competitive race since the start of the pandemic last night, and LL for seeing my race page before me.I haven't edited it yet. We were advised that it was 4 miles before the start, but turned out to be 4.56! The course was 2 loops round uncut grassy fields, with hidden pot holes hidden by the high grass. It was really tough, being so uneven underfoot, and difficult to maintain a steady stride. I was delighted to record a moving time of 41.32, an average of 9.08 minute miling.

Today was an extremely slow recovery road run of 4.98 miles, I didn't round up!

Well done Steve for your 7 miles this morning, you are building up the miles.

I was apprehensive about mixing yesterday, but it was only in the couple of minutes before the start, that we gathered. The event was held in Broadlands Estate which has extensive grounds, and the competitors were all registered club runners, each club having its own gazebo spaced well apart from the others. There was cake at the finish, each in its own paper bag to avoid handling.

Amazing Job HS especially considering the terrain.

It sounds organised and safe as possible.
Well done Steve on your 7 miles and good you enjoyed it. I did get off my bleep last night and did a nice progressive 5. I enjoyed cooler temps too. Swam this morning my furthest since I was about 11 ( although slow and not far) 😆 have a club run tonight.

What a run hs! What a pace on such terrain! That cake was well deserved. Good that the mixing wasn't overly zealous too. A pace like that for me is a long forgotten experience and will never be repeated!
Swimming as well as running LL, an all- rounder. Do you swim in a pool or lake/river? Bike next!!
My five miler with my wife this morning wasn't "up there" and we both struggled, me more so. That's the way it goes though.

A low month's mileage for me but happy enough.

Thanks Steve, I was very pleased as it was my first competitive run since the start of the pandemic. I struggled on Thursday, so don't beat yourself up because of today's run, you were doing it, which is the main thing.

This morning I ran the Club's 10k solo challenge and really surprised myself, I did a negative split. 5k in 28.35 and 10k 55.21 WAVA 71.25%. My target was to get under the hour.

That’s fab HS your higher mileage seems to be paying off.

Well done Steve I’ve had some mixed results this week.
Did parkrun this morning thought I was flying but had forgotten how tough our summer course is 2 x grassy hills.
Disappointed with 30:28 but did it last in March 2020 in 30:03 something to work on.

Thanks LL, it is hard running solo, but I think Wednesday's competitive run helped me to up my game.

Good that you are back parkrunning again, and I'm sure that you will soon be sub 30 minutes.

I'm taking a rest day tomorrow, as we have a 12 mile road run in our Marathon schedule on Monday. My running buddy Sarah is doing the Eastleigh 10k tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see if she can better my time. She said to me "just think what time you could have run if you were running the Eastleigh 10k." That is a possible PB course, very flat, but a boring course. There will be over 1,000 runners which put me off because of Covid concerns. At my age, I'm in the high risk category, despite having both jabs.

Well done everyone else for keeping moving forward

I’ve finished my month off on 107 and 935 for the year.

Recovered well after the ultra had a foot tattoo done so over the moon to get the 100m done again for the month.

Thanks Geordiegirl, I was pleased with my return to competitive racing. Glad to hear that you have recovered from your ultra! You will soon be up to the 1,000 miles for the year.

Definitely important to keep up the stretching and strength work.
