Thanks for posting that GG. He's inspirational isn't he.
Because of the accident he was in the 'halo' was created for the single seater cars and it's been introduced to the F1's too. I certainly hope there is never another accident like that one in car racing again.

How fabulous to read about Billy Monger, saw the TV programme about his crash and rehab. What a guy!
I saw the female Welsh Half Marathon record was broken yesterday in Valencia by Chris Evans. One hour and nine minutes.
Amazing half marathon record by Yomif Kejelka 57 mins 30 seconds. Both in Valencia.
Good run yesterday hs and t shirt with shorts very appropriate but more so today ! It's mild again!
Can't fault a few drinks FF, you seem to have hit in a decent balance lately in respect of running.
Hope the "feasting" went down well gg.
Good runs you did Donnie1 but the treadmill is hard going I think. Retirement? In my eleventh year of glorious retirement and don't miss anything about work at allπŸ˜‚.
4.2 miles in the drizzle this morning with my wife again. Inching towards the 1000.

The retirement thread is a great place to convince you there is more to life than work. Lots of comment's similar to steve's!

I am (im)patiently waiting for the draw down quote for my work pension, hopefully will arrive this week, I am quite happy in my thinking of March 2026, but OH is looking to early next year.

I haven't watched the TV programme about Billy but I will look it out, I confess I didnt know about him until him and his sister did race across the world and I then googled and found out about it. Tragic but how he has managed to turn his situation into something so positive is totally inspiring.

Amazing new records, the female one is about my 10k time!

We had a lovely meal just such big portions but it was also lovely to spend some time with my inlaws they are really lovely people and I don't see them enough.

I am having a rest day today - well done on your 4.2 drizzly miles steve.

Geordie girl fingers crossed for you that the quote is what you are hoping for.

I was lucky enough to get the nod 3 years ago and double lucky as I had just turned 55 😊.
And yeah as Steve says it’s the best thing ever.

7 miles today in the drizzle but still very mild.

YTD 1137 miles.

An amazing achievement by Billy Monger.

Thanks Steve. Well done for this mornings 4.2 miles in the drizzle with your wife.

GG, I also agree with Steve re life after work. I took voluntary redundancy aged 58.5 and have never regretted it.

It's good to hear that you enjoyed the meal with your in-laws.

I hope that you enjoy today's rest day.

MrHSc, well done for this mornings 7 miles in the drizzle.

This morning was an enjoyable 7 miles in the forest with Sarah F and Mike. No drizzle, but a chilly wind.

A good distance hs, 7 miles in the forest with company sounds just the job!
Another 4.6 miles along trails this morning, gloriously carpeted with golden and bright yellow leaves.Mild too.
I retired at 65 but continued in one of my working roles as a volunteer for four years. If COVID hadn't struck I would probably still be doing it because I actually loved my work but the organisation altered its involvement to precovid days.

Both @hillstrider and @steve45 should overtake me tomorrow or Thursday on your runs. I was going out today but got up late so didn't bother.

I will be running tomorrow FF, so I stand a good chance. I won't be running many miles though, as it's a speed session.

3.6 miles is all you need @hillstrider unless I tie up some running shoe laces tomorrow.
