Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Thank you everyone for keeping me going, your miles have been my inspiration. With a mere 43 miles to go to cross the line I feel pleased to even get this far.

Five miles with intervals thrown in was quite a session hs. Competitive indeed!
You seem to be going along nicely Looby and there's a lot of days left in the year yet!
105 is a fine total for the month gg and good total miles for the day yesterday.
Arbitrary targets I'm sure can keep us enthused, whatever distance they are😄.

Next year might be less than this year for me because I'm implementing a plan to hopefully get me back running continuously again. ( I reserve the right to change my mind!!).
I'm sure it won't be long before you're flying more regularly FF although what you're currently doing isn't so bad at all.
5k this morning, along trails with my wife, thick mist over fields and river areas. I've got a bit too used to running with someone!

@geordiegirl I had done 31 months of at least 100 miles, yes I could have kept going but I realised I wasn't enjoying my running. I will come back to it (I hope) because I used to enjoy it, I certainly didn't run for fitness.

and enjoyment has to be the main focus otherwise what is the point? Get back to a happy zone whether that is with increased miles or less.

I feel that too steve (getting used to running with someone) I have mostly been a solo runner with the occasional mam run or with one of my running friends if we met up, then my bestie started running in lockdown and the last 2ish years we've ran together regularly but she's now injured and its no coincidence that my loss of running has been impacted by her not able to run. Hoping she gets an answer soon on why her knee is so painful (physio suspects either a meniscus tear or arthritis but she is in so much pain even walking is affected and she doesn't seem keen to meet up to do anything so severely impacting her mental health too)

Well done GG for exceeding 100 miles this month. I'm disappointed as I've just realised that I have fallen short. Never mind, at least I'm still running.

I also run for enjoyment, but for fitness too.

I hope your friend doesn't have a meniscus tear, as you regulars have heard all about mine and the after-effects.

Thanks Steve, I still enjoy being competitive, although I do very few races nowadays. Mike's granddaughter joined us yesterday, and was surprised when he told her I was the same age as Donald Trump 🤣

Well done for this mornings 5k with your wife on trails.

This morning was a solo 4 miles hilly road run.

I started running "to get fitter" when I was approaching 30 years old. That changed when I joined a running club and 'getting faster " was the aim although it also became highly enjoyable. I think (?) I've never "not liked" running although there have been the "grumbling years" because of my physical struggles. I have to add now that I do run to maintain fitness, it's too easy to let oneself go.
I like that statement gg, " get back to a happy zone via more miles or less". That's unfortunate about your friends injury gg so hope it heals before too much longer.
I think I'm fortunate that we are a household that shares an interest in athletics and running which keeps a momentum going .
You're a good bit faster than Mr Trump hs 😂
a hilly four miler certainly keeps you fit, well done again.
3.2 miles solo this morning and I found it hard to start with but somewhere along the way I enjoyed being in the moment.

Out of interest what happened in 2021 FF? That was a big dip of a year for mileage and all other years were much further.

I can't imagine why a 78 year old would want to be President of the USA. My biggest challenge is to keep on running at a decent pace.

Thanks Steve, it was a heavier 'load' this morning. I started at a brisk pace, and got slower and slower. I managed to keep going through. I'm falling behind you on the 1000 miles league table.

Well done for this mornings solo 3.2 miles.

Plantar Fasciitis struck, I took time out and when I restarted running I didn't want to leave my estate and certainly not leave my local area, it took ages for me to build confidence of running further.

Actually I remember that too. My left plantar gave me hell today on my run thankfully stopped massaged it and it stayed fine. It’s hard trusting the process after injury post broken foot I was worried going far or off a road.

I did 15.2 today to finish my coastal path challenge I had route in my watch but got lost a few times hoping if 3 of us has a nap in watch at Meriden we can work it out.

I had the bag fully weighted and took poles (which I won’t be taking to Meriden) and needed them for the way part so training with extra weight. Slightly worried my shoes are not ideal with double layer socks which I feel I need (toe socks & long socks) but too late to get new trainers. The inov8 are big enough but rub the daft bunion even with tape on. Anyway I am sure we’ll keep going it is going to be very slow but we just have to get it done.
