Got a heavy cold, feeling grotty so only did 1.2 miles in the usual way. Walked a mile afterwards.

Good 4.73 miles hs and a fine total with that 1000 in sight. I'm on 890 so feeling confident about the target.

Good luck marathoners.

I hope you feel better soon Steve. I'm on the tail end of that cold, it hasn't been pretty. Reduced volumes the past fortnight because of it.

I'm sorry to hear Steve, that your cold has developed into a heavy one! Well done for managing 1.2 miles, plus a mile walk. I'm sure that you will make the 1000 miles, without too much bother. Get well soon. I hope that your wife hasn't caught it.

Thanks, I felt good during this mornings run, which made up for not doing a parkrun.

It's good to hear duo, that your cold is now on the way out!

Good news GG, that you have survived the works conference and are back home.

I ran a solo hilly road 4.73 miles this morning at a steady pace, but pushing hard up and down the hills.

Unfortunately, my daughter and her friend, both have heavy colds, so that they didn't do Thursdays first C25k session. I'm hoping that they will attend tomorrows session. The more they miss, the harder it will be for them.

Definitely no races hillstrider, I've not raced for a good while now. I've not ran since I did parkrun 2 weeks ago, I've either had something to do when I've felt like a run or just cba'd other days. I'm considering a run tomorrow but will see how I feel in the morning.

Posted this morning as I sat in the car pre park run. Miserable drizzling grey morning but happy with just under 25.

In other news, Mrs Donnie has joined a gym but only to use the swimming pool. It's a membership thing, they're obviously thinking they can also sign me up. Got a pass to use during October to see how it goes., will only start to charge me if I continue into November. 1st visit today, did one mile on the treadmill.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Appreciate it.

I finished the Melbourne Marathon today in 4:02:48.

The goal was sub-4hrs but it was always going to be a close one. I did not prevail, but it was a great day. I just didn’t have enough in the tank in the second half and faded. I was lucky, I had a decent sleep and had no injuries or ailments. So I got the best out of myself and couldn’t ask for anymore. I have a blister but I am hoping I have got through it unscathed (let’s see tomorrow…) so I can bounce on to bigger thing.

The course was fantastic, and even went by my street, and it was a a very well run event. The weather was near perfect, 7 to 18 degrees and sunny (in the morning), but there was a bit of wind which was challenging at times but nothing too offensive.

My only complaint was too many people (11,000), but I suppose that is to be expected and I knew that going in. There was good support on the sidelines.

Need to find a new race to sign up for now…

Enjoy your Sunday running everyone. I’m going out for a steak and beer.
