Excellent pace FF, you are really living up to your username!

Well done Evangel, it's good to know that you have started your running comeback. Slowly but surely is the way to go.

Thanks Steve, my mileage nowadays is much lower than in years gone by, but I'm trying to mix speed work with mileage, and drastically reduced number of races.

I hope the results from Sundays heart scan give you the all clear 🤞

Thanks Steve and hillstrider but I can't maintain that pace, it was only because I didn't want to hold up the driver and the rep was only 1 minute length. Sub 6 minutes for a mile is pie in the sky but it won't stop me trying on Saturday at the Jingle mile.

Only to myself Mark, last year still with PF I ran conservatively, this year I want to try hard. My PB of 6.03 is from 2017 along with my 800m and 400m PB's. The worst thing is that they are so close together you don't really recover from one before you race another.

Good luck FF with your mile attempt on Saturday.

This morning was a pyramid session comprising 3 sets of 30 45 60 45 30 seconds, with 60 seconds recoveries between sets. As a matter of interest, Garmin Connect showed the fastest pace was 6.05 minute miling. My garmin watch showed 4.15k pace which I presume is the same, but haven't checked.

Steve, I wasn't really intending people to think that I was scorning a particular pace, since that may be the limit for many people. Rather I was mentioning my pace as a contrast to the amazing pace and distance of some of the jet-propelled runners on here!

I'm on my knees just thinking about a pyramid session like that hs! Such efforts are keeping your pace at a good level.
The miles and speed are combining well FF, this must be one of your best periods of running this year or more. A mile "race" is hard! I only ever did one when I was about 35 and managed 5.40 following a poorly executed attempt and sprinting all out far too soon! That was the end of my dalliance with things like that🤪. Hope you achieve what you want on Saturday FF.
Very foggy here in Wales early today, 5k was ok but when my wife asked me if I'd enjoyed it when I got home I said that enjoyment would be too strong a word for it! Hmm, that's really where I am right now😂
