Steve, I just enjoy a long run on a Sunday. 14 to 18 is ideal for me, I have no idea why I like distance running.

Well done Steve for your 5 miles on sodden trails.
FF, I used to do 17 or 18 miles most Sundays with a friend, but these days have reduced my mileage dramatically. I'm concentrating on keeping running for as long as possible. I can't imagine life without running with my friends and doing the occasional race, but know that it is inevitable eventually.

Eventually is the key word hillstrider. If you're able and want to then there's no reason to stop until necessary.

FF, that's right, I will definitely keep going as long as possible. It's amazing how our attitudes change as we get older. I remember saying when I was younger and quicker, that I had no intention of continuing once I had lost my pace.

I could stop tomorrow but I'd miss my Sunday run. I think that was the frustrating part of resting when the PF hit last year.

Got an email today to say the Southampton half has moved from the 23rd April to the 2nd. All sorts of excuses why but it’s not really convenient. A bit of a nuisance and lucky I booked a hotel with cancellation.

That's annoying LL, I hadn't heard that the date had been changed.

I'm guessing they want to avoid any clash with The Big One in That There London. Might make for a few more elites on the line up?

Distance running is me and my wife's thing too FF but it's a memory now for me☹️. I can see me eventually getting up to a ten miler again over the next couple of years but envious of you proper long run folks. My aim, like you hs is to continue running for as long as possible and certainly into my eighties even if it is slow. Stopping is not something I could tolerate, having run for forty odd years it's built in... despite frequent grumbling! Just 2.3 miles this morning and no running tomorrow or Friday.

I'm the same as you really Steve, I've run since my thirties, so its a major part of my life. I suppose some could call it an addiction, but it has got me through some tough times over the years.
A running rest day today, but another heavy Farmers Walk. The heavens opened when I was about 100 metres from home, so I got drenched 🌧
