Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Mrsb runs well and lots! I think it's the "lots" that might stop the pb happening. I think though that you will struggle to break a four hour marathon unless you change your overall approach to how many events you do. The clock is ticking and it'll become more and more difficult as the years go by so now is the time! Pick a good course of a marathon and train solely for that one marathon utilising all the knowledge and skills you already have around training. There are no wings or prayers and certainly very few elements of luck involved in going for a good time. Some of it indeed might be in your head but train that too! I really want to see a sub four next to your name next year.

Morning all, sorry I haven't been keeping up, but I'm suffering with a very nasty cold which started last Tuesday evening when I "lost my voice." I'm still croaky today and feeling down in the dumps as I haven't run for a week.

Mrsb, I gather that you are aiming for a sub 4 hour marathon pb. I have run 14 marathons with a pb of 3.12.26, which was the third marathon in 1993. The first was 3.32.56, the second 3.15.28 . I did several shorter races in between each marathon, and included speed work in training. I don't recommend this though, it worked for me, but we are all different. Training methods have changed since my early days, when the emphasis was on high mileage, around 60 mpw, with lots of speed work. I think Steve's advice in the above post is the best for you to achieve your aims.

Hi all, a week or two of sabotaged running involving working in the wrong cities and work Christmas social!

I'm not quite as far down the leaderboard as it appears though - Garmin Express is playing silly Bs again!

Mmm I had issues with Garmin express, I removed the program and re-installed it, then had an update and it has been ok since. I hope you manage to get it sorted soon.

It was updated some time last week. Was wonderful, even connecting and uploading before starting the app, which it's never done reliably in previous incarnations (it sits in the system tray all the time, just waiting.....)

And then suddenly, yesterday, it's stopped again. I suspect the ANT+ stick technology as much as anything.

PC restart, watch reset, tonight we shall see!

It's not *many* miles to upload really, though.

Now at 1259, my secondary target of 1254 (2018k) reached.
I'm a dinosaur ; I upload all my runs manually!

I'm the same as you Peter--primarily because loading it directly onto my pc/phone caused too many glitches too often! But I rather enjoy doing it manually anyway.
