Steve, I've said before, I believe, that I took up running 5 years ago now, so I'm still hoping to improve. My first mile was 7.05 and amazed at people running sub 6 as I was about 3 hour marathon runners of my age. I then ran a 6.03 and a sub 3.30 marathon myself, so my aim is to try my best and improve as much as I'm able to but be realistic about my targets. Sub 6 is possible, a 3.20 marathon is possible but I think an 18 minute 5k isn't, a sub 20 a maybe possible but will require work to achieve.

Falcarius, interval training doesn't need to be complicated or involved. Try this for example: 4 minutes fast, 3 minutes slow; do that 4 times. Interval training is supposed to be the most effective single means for improving pace.

You've done brilliantly FestiveF and in only five years. That's a still a long period of time though when it comes to reaching a peak--if you've been giving it your all. I think a 3.20 marathon is a strong possibility (I did a few sub 3.20..not listed in my profile) when I was consistently running 1.25 ish for a half (should've done better in the marathon but long term injuries back then scuppered chances). I found mile races nasty! Off like a rocket and maintaining a fast (for me) pace was ugh!! I think FF you've got the mental desire and determination to give the mile and the marathon a real go!

This 'ere Christmas thing doesn't half jigger my running routine!

This week includes a bit more forced rest in terms of MrsMMM's birthday treat tomorrow, and a trip to the IoW - although I am taking my running kit in order to retain my sanity ;-) .

Then travelling back, Christmas tasks, family etc.

Ce la vie.

Was The Grinch a runner?

Lol Mrsb.

Christmas does get in the way at times Mmm. We're really busy at work and because I'm later home I'm getting my arse out of bed in time for lunch instead of managing to get a run in first. It's a good job I have a fantastic wife who has my lunch ready for me or my running would suffer lots more than it does or I'd have to have a second job to be able to eat out more :-) Enjoy the IoW it's a lovely Island.

I went up to London to do (amongst a couple of other things) my Christmas shopping. I didn't buy any presents :-(

We will be 13 or 14 for Christmas lunch - I have a rough idea of what I'll cook - but I really should think about getting organised.

Haven't run (yet) today 😉MrsB but have swum around the wreck (~330m). However I have eventually written and posted all the cards!
