Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

About Me
Mileage:

DISREGARD TOTALS
NB This year I've counted all the walk/jog/run miles each day. Previously these have been ignored. (This is why mileage seems much bigger this year - but it's not size it's quality that counts and frankly these are all crap miles that add very little in running training terms - though there might be a slight general fitness benefit.)

So DISREGARD mileage in present and previous years and bear in mind their non-comparability.

DISREGARD PREVIOUS YEARS (DETAILS INCOMPLETE)
Also NB : not all training was entered for previous years, (e.g. last year 2010 I did a lot of 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12M Canal Path runs. (These were either fartlek or out at 9-10mm and back at 7.5-7mm.) Before 2010 only races are recorded in training. Training varied from 2.5M/week to around 130M/week (chain in both bikes broke and ran in to work and back etc).

RACE PORTFOLIO
Most of my races are now on the site.
But I have removed all XC races. This is because the notional distances do little for comparability, obscure trends, and makes it hard to evaluate fitness state, etc.

20 miles races
I had intended to squirrel away 20M as PB distance for my old age but I saw no reason why Ashby shouldn't still leave that possibility open so long as I stuck at around 2:50.

HR sometimes q disorganized but only seems to slow me down a bit from time to time in races; single short AF episode Nov after flu early Oct 2010*; still using TM protocol to test HR: fluctuations, outliers, ectopics and occasional bursts of tachyarrhythmia to ~250 for ~7sec or less mostly); some days completely "normal"; no discernable pattern (as yet). I still haven't seen GP and still no word from Cardiology*

Started running Dec 1999. 1st race Banbury 15 in March 2000 so a PB in that excellent race this year would be very wellcome, but a hard task.

Stopped racing in 2007 with tendon catastrophe. Started racing again Farnborough Flier 2009 but couldn't do track work. Resumed trackwork Sep 2010; stopped again Nov 2010 after AF. I intentionally avoid general running.

Happy to be (fairly) disorganized, to minimize miles, bodymass, attachments and participation in cash nexus, but maximize races, PBs, WAVAs, endorphins, yoga, meditation and general emptyness.

Weekly training at present: around 10hrs yoga (various different classes - 4 excellent instructors); 4+hrs pilates/BodyBalance; 3+hrs core (additional to pilates/yoga/spin etc which also develop core); 2hrs body pump; 2hrs spinning; 3hrs TM HR check protocol; incidental walk/jog/run to get about mostly); race or long run at the w/e; maybe 1/2hr runnning training as such.

*Just now still awaiting more tests at Cardiology / - following it up today.

thinking about focus this year on learning to run properly, sorting out deviant left leg, search 4 lost arch, Gantz suite?

So may not be much speedwork in this year's programme and times will tend to be around 5+% slower, so fewer PBs than I would like, but at 66 after running since 2000, etc I really shouldn't expect more than one or two and should concentrate on age-adjusted ratings - though here it will be very hard to improve on times I did Aug to Oct 2005 when club chair had terminal cancer and I pulled out all the stops for the County Championships.
