Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

5hep Copious use of co-dudromol and a damn good massage meant I was able to run this as quick as I could have hoped - even allowing for the wind!!

Just me! Well there is wind and there is wind, but first time I have run in a gale.Flat out from the gun, paid for it into wind in last mile 7.01 pace. PB'd by 10 seconds, which on a calm day would prob have been a good 1 minute of previous best.

RFJ Would be good to get under 35 mins..... well outside PB but will be a good marker for the continued come back (plus have hants XC the day before). Update, no longer doing the XC, am in good shape, a fetch PB may be in reach...

Well, the forecast was rain and winds of upto 60mph..... the rain stayed away for most of the day but the wind didnt.... at times it was like being in a wind tunnel, being tested from the front, behind, the left and the right.

Good warm up with 5 clubmates, 3 of us gynning for around 33:50-34 mins. For once and coz I felt good I decided to push up towards the front for a start so was about 8-9 deep when the gun went.....

after a lap and a bit of a shetered track it was onto the pomanade...... and getting blown from the sides and behind, found my rytham very quickly and felt very comfortable, went through 1 mile in 6:34.

The second mile there was less wind but did have a stretch when we were heading right into it, and this was hard work, as well as concertrating on the flooded / large puddles pathways, not quite knowing where the foot was going to land. Mile 2 in 6:39 and still felling good.

The third mile was all about hanging in there, there was little overtaking, but a lot of jostling in a group of 10 or so runners. Mile 3 in 6:40.

Onto mile 4 and homeward bound which meant wind, wind and wind from about 3.5m so where it was sheltered I was try to really push it on, but still was a slower mile, 6:43.

Then to the killer, the big slap in the face, repeated too many times, the wind was vicious, thats the only way I can describe it, at one point it felt like I was going backwards despite maximum effort, on and on one and all struggling with the wind, then releif as we enter the staduim and the track for the last 400m. Mile 5 in 7:01, despite max effort....

So watch time of 33:39, much better than I had really hoped for and would have been a good 30 secs faster over the last mile if there had been no wind.

Very happy.

Slimster Can't be outdone by Barnet! Update: Met Barnet at the start had the gentleman handshake to start our challenge, led him for the 1st 400m and well that was it!!! 1st mile in 6.24 with a strong wind behind me, just got slower and slower, last mile I probably could have walked it quicker!... Well done m8, no excuses from me, completely outran... Positives some of me fellow club runners were laughing as they passed me in the last mile, @ least I made them smile!

SuperSooks Got a PB! Was flying and feeling great at 3 miles, but it went a bit wrong after hitting that windy patch along the cycle path on the way back... I was hoping it wouldn't be as windy as last year, but I think I was wrong!
