Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

BigChiefRunningBore Took 5 mins off last years time. Sadly I under estimated how UTTERLY dull this run is. really hard to focus. Weather played part - got burnt even with lotion on! Lack of recent training kicked in after half way despite easy start. Everyone I knew running it found it harder than they expected, not a PB course. Oh did I say it was DULL?

Gandhi Have been finding it harder & harder to keep under 2hrs. I think this will be the one that takes me over it.
Haven't done a 1/2 since Broadland in March .
Update:-
Did better than expected. Injuries held up well. That last mile (?) was a killer.

Lieutenant Lucerne It's difficult to make an accurate prediction about this one: a lot will depend on the weather. Last year it was warm and very humid and I managed a relatively slow time. If I were to get a PB, it wouldn't be by very much.
UPDATE - a better time than last year's race, but 52 secs slower than my pb (which was set on a cool day in March). I pushed the pace as hard as possible, but the warm conditions and the congested start made a difference. However I was pleased with the way things went. I usually run a very slow 12th mile, but did better this time. (I also set an unofficial pb for 10 miles)
The final 1.1 miles seemed longer than that. Either the course was over 13.1m, or more likely the 12 mile marker was too early - but if that's correct it means that I didn't cover the 12th mile that much faster than usual :(
Finally, if you placed a bet on me, I hope you didn't lose too many credits.

Monster Feet Not chipped, which is bit annoying. First sub two hour half marathon, although bit disappointed, thought ran really hard. Did not feel well at all afterwards :( Doesn't bode well for marathon time.

Runner Martin Nice event - but stays the same each year, which is OK but would be nice to see some improvements, first two miles very congested, no chip, goody bag poor - did Wycombe last week and far better value. Would it have been great if the race finished at the new stadium

starfleet1985 Official time. Lovely course and flat. Poorly organised route as places are extremly tight. Very warn weather. so sruggle due to heat and walking periods for the last mile.

I was OK up until about mile 7, when my lack of stamina (due to little or no training through May and June) started to tell.

Also, I was beginning to hurt in the spots where the osteopath had been working yesterday.

So, decided to take walk breaks, which actually didn't 'cost me too dear' as I was more refreshed for the running segments.

I'm well pleased with this result. The time wasn't stunning for me (albeit my best Summer half ever). But what was important was that it was the 'first step' on the road to getting my running fitness back.

Ultra Sparkly Bridget (USB) Ran just under 1:40 for a hilly 10 miler yesterday so I should be capable of a PB here. UPDATE Although notas good as predicted a pb by 2 min 30 sec. Went off too fast and suffered for it after 10 miles having run a 10 mile pb to that point. Weather stated dry but it was pretty humid in places due to all the drying out that was needed. :-)
