Puffing Bertie This is going to be the first 2 miles of my RFL :-)

Ok this is a rough guess (based on 8.40m/m) cos my garmin wouldnt pick up a signal but it must be fairly close as i always do positive splits and my total time for 5k was 26.04

Hollywoof! BEFORE: First time I've ever run a 2 mile run - should be interesting.

DURING: Change of plan - did this as part of the Straggler's 25th birthday relay races - had a 5.1 km leg to run - so I did the 1 mile and 2 mile races within it :-)

AFTER: It was really hot... and I had some really fast club runners starting behind me (which helped a lot)... and I made it :o) (although I might have reordered the 1 and 2 mile runs to make sure I scored a soul on one of them!)

topcorner Took the beginner's running club out today so it was at a fairly easy pace, we did clear 2 miles though. Now - I'd like to appeal to the apocalyptic magistrate and keep my soul because: M'lud - 1) I've already done a tough RFYS 4 miler today + biked to work AND 2) All of the runners in the beginner's group ran further and faster than they'd ever done before. I've created a new batch of runners! My monumental generosity in completing this act of goodness surely cancels out the evil ways of that Gobi creature...no?

Lumsdoni Ultra-soul - Leg 3 - 9th July
Friday - First 2 miles of 6 mile tempo.
2-1 Gobi! My soul is slipping away from you. After over sleeping I literally jumped out of bed and hit the road, ready to battle the dark one for my soul. A little too hasty I think, turns out my Spiderman PJ's aren't wicking and the heat was sweltering.
Restarting and fearing I'd be late for work, I stormed off down the road, instantly regretting my 16min prediction. At this time of the morning it seemed a tall order. This was just hard, but at the end of mile 1 it was 7:46, so definately do-able, the further I got in though, the harder it got. The enormous cod and chips from last nights tea was not completely at rest either! Not wanting to lose another round to Gobi though was spurring me on, lungs were burning up and I was breathing heavily. But it was worth it - 7:34 for the second mile brought me in at 15:22, for me a very respectable time, certainly faster than my 5k pace! I allowed myself a 90s rest then attempted the 4 mile leg of this weeks Ultra-soul!

Longlegs Very Warm This lunch time. So decided to try and save my Sole in the gym this lunchtime. So did the 2 Miles on the Treadmill. Started confortable and then increased the pace every minute and by the end was running flat out. Enjoyed this, as I have been training for Edinburgh marathoin so pace hasn't been on the agenda for ages. Felt good to run fast again. Unlucky Gobi My Soul is safe at least for today!!!

Jenelopy Prediction is better than previous best in training for this distance, so fingers crossed!
I managed it, though I thought I wasnt going to all the way round. People and cars kept being in the way, especailly betwen 1 and 1.5 miles.

D2 going to try and find a flatish route for this, difficult where I live.... no date planned yet
UPDATE........Well this is my last race report and I’m very confused now as to whether my name is Steady on Amber or Come on Amber but hopefully you know me as the big fierce training partner of D. She has been very nice about me recently probably because of our final result; Gobi 1 – D 5. She says she could not have done it without me ‘cos I; keep her company, keep her amused and keep her safe.
We nearly did not finish this series as D was struck down by one of Gobi’s wing-ed assassins (horsefly) which left her with what the doc called “an extreme reaction” and a leg the same width all the way down and no bend in her ankle or knee. But with some studious application of frozen peas, obviously a devils antidote, we managed to accomplish the one and two mile races concurrently yesterday.
My previous reports have been a mixture of ‘Spring Watch’ sponsored by the Derbyshire Tourist Board and a novel by Dennis Wheatley, but today there is no description of the scenery as it flashed past toooooo fast.
Usually I’m miles in front but to be honest I had to concentrate to keep up, 2 miles in 20.28 and 1 mile in 9.59. Huge personal bests all round.

Clumsula ..........okay, we had survived Part I, but as we continued with our perilous journey, we were going into unknown terriatory - deepest, darkest Barrhead! Hordes of lost souls, dressed in Burberry caps and white tracksuits, with blank, vacant expressions, stared open mouthed at us, speaking in tongues as we passed. We had to have our wits, and speed, about us here. Trying desperately not to make eye contact, or our very souls would be sucked from us, well that and our mobiles and my emergency pound that was stuffed down my sock, we negotiated this part of the challenge well, and emerged at a safe haven, an oasis if you will in the deranged and debauched world we had been travelling through,Tesco, safe and in the knowledge Part II had been completed successfully..........Sorry Gobi, not today!

A.C I was trying to run 14:00 flat on the treadie to check my pacing for this weekend's half mara (and see whether I have already sold my soul). It seems my guardian angel was in my white running shoes tho' because I bettered my target with not a six in sight.

BlueWombat phew!
I'll sing you two-oh, green grow the rushes oh!
What is your two-oh?
Two, two, the ill and tight throat, choking, clogged with green-ohs.
One is one and not alone and never more shall be so.

Schnecke Needed to call on the heavenly host to support me on this one - first run after nearly 1 month's ninjury:

The MP3 was primed and ready to go - Robbie's Angels were urging me on, so I set off at a good pace with Fatboy Slim praising me. Hit .75 miles with the Godfather of Soul socking it to me - but what was this? At 1.1 miles my Sympathy for the Devil is being sought -

Pinks Will do this either 11 or 12/6 Not planning a hugely fast time as I am still recovering from my shin pain. Had originally aimed at doing it in 25 minutes, but going to stick my neck out and try for 24mins. I know I have gone quicker before at this distance but have just had a break from running so don't want to push it too hard and go back to square one. * Race day: set alarm for 5am but when it came down to it I really couldn't bring myself to get out of bed at that time, I opted for an extra half hour in bed. Had a bit of a bad day and had a severe case of C.B.A, but knowing that I would feel better I went out for my run. Well the pace seemed good all the way around, didn't get too out of breath, which probably meant I could have pushed it a little harder, but had a slight pain down the front of my shin so kept at the pace I was. Found some grass to run on for the last 3/4mile. Really pleased to get the time I did. I got home with some noggling tummy pains, but they eased off during my stretching.

McGoohan McGoohan's sexathon - part 6 - the actual RUN

I predicted 7:07 per mile. A Total of 14:14 to cross the line. I've entered 35 mins as the time up there and 34 as the tiime taken so I don't spoil things for PB betters. But be assured that I was aiming to beat 14:14 (in fact hoping to beat 14 mins).

So, I turned up at battersea Park on Monday night. This was the big decider. All other cross-training challenges had been achieved: the swim, the cycle, the walk, the rower, the elliptical, over 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 miles. My soul had already been gambled 5 times and each time I'd come out on top. Now: the run, the final challenge.

The Sri Chinmoy marathon team organise 2 mile races in Battersea Park every Monday night through June, July and some of August. How better to run the 2 mile challenge than under actual race conditions.

Unfortunately, it was the hottest day of the year so far. I thought I was well hydrated and I'd bought alovely orange and lime drink from a Rastafarian on the way through the Park. But as we set off, I felt instantly dry. I tried licking my lips. Nothing. Nada. We passed the Rastafarian and I wanted to buy another of his drinks. Jeez, I though Gobi has 90k of this in the Comrades to look forward to and there will probably be fewer ice cream vans around.

I got to the one mile marker in 6:13. But boy was I hot. My speed slower right down. All I was thinking of was where I could get a drink. I wanted to break off and be disqualified and just jump in the lake. But no, I was passing the start point again. Just a little way to the finish. '14 minutes now' said the marshall on the final bend. I could see the finish! Too far away. '14:36' said the guy on the line as I crossed. I'd failed the final challenge by 22 seconds.

MISSION FAILED - SOUL LOST!

Still, I'll get a shedload of PB Betting points!
