thanks Aubernette I wondered how running worked. I've done one Audax ride on Zwift where you can get in a large group and can cover the distance much quicker. it felt a bit like Ride London with its closed roads and always being able to find a largish group to join in with.

Might be a daft question - but your saddle isn't way too low is it Larks?
Most decent runners I know that have come over to cycling sadly leave me for dust after a few weeks of adaptation.

Larks - just be clear with what you want to do each day. It's too easy to race every day or smash yourself. I have about 4 ride invites a day plus events!
On drafting I can't say I feel it in a big group but it's obviously there (not on TT bike obvs) but on Tue my fastest sprint over 200m was on the last one after my times had started getting slower in a private world but after a Gobi lead out and hopping past others as we re-entered the public space I set a fastest time by 2 secs!

It might be simbil. Now that I've got the bike setup in the garage, I might try a bike fit with some measurements to see if there is anything fundamentally wrong. I did pay some attention last night to actually pedalling smoother, and a little concentration paid towards pedalling in circles and benefitting from the clips did seem to help.
In the real world, I tend to ride around 16mph on undulating routes, weighing myself in at 73kg / 173cm so not exactly featherweight or long limbed, but I'm a long way from being a trained rider. Agree with TTONTT about not smashing myself daily, on the first few days of free trial it is tempting just to do that, but I don't think I've been too guilty of that - or maybe I am doing, as I'm feeling inferior to the other riders there - they might be just cruising along in jeans a t-shirt!

Question for you experienced users of Zwift then please.
Have used zwift on and off for a while but not regularly. When out on the road and happy to plod a long on longer rides, over 40+ miles, and also go out with mates on evening etc.
Not really sure what I should be aiming for on Zwift at the moment i tend to jump on and do a route. I am currently carrying excess baggage, am unfit (no longer run due to Osteperosis in spine and OA in feet, knees, etc) so really want to get fit again. Supposed to be doing the Ride 100 this year (it has to be cancelled surely). I have paid the monthly subscription. Am currently using a Taxx Bluethooth trainer but looking at getting a direct drive one.
Just really want some direction on what is my best way forward with Zwift

Mandymoo, have you tried any of the workout plans? There's a 6 week beginner FTP builder. I quite like using the workouts rather than free riding, I don't always do a full one, sometimes 40 minutes of intervals rather than the full 60, but it's nice to feel like you're training something specific.

Building up to a long weekly ride from whatever you find ok now to around 70 miles before your planned 100 should give the endurance needed. Do you have any performance goal? Getting the blend of strength and speed training right is much more tricky but the backbone of training will generally be increasing steady miles.
An hour sweetspot training is a simple enough performance addition and works well on Zwift (up the Alpe ) if you know your FTP - needs to be approached gradually but can eventually get 2 or 3 sessions a week to complement a weekly long ride.
The built in training sessions are quite good too for variety.

Simbil not worried about the Ride 100 - this will be my 6th time if it happens. It just really learning all the terminology and how to use Zwift right that I would like to concentrate on.

base base base, why not just have a period of steady riding just 30 to 60 mins a sessions and do something longer at the weekend ?
