Mandy, I too have a Ride London place. It’s one of only three events left if my diary this year. The others being a theatre trip to London in August and my birthday party in October.
I have now accepted the August events will not take place (and I wouldn’t want to travel to London anyway). And I am very doubtful that having a gathering of 100 people will be allowed even in October

Meg - I have ride 100 and serpentine 2 mile swim - am hoping they are both cancelled as I dont want to be going to London for either of them.
Thanks for the comments. Gobi - I am generally just doing 30/45 mins during the week at present and now need to do longer at weekends.
Going to be strange going back out on the road - will feel like starting again with riding without stabilisers.

Mandymoo - cycling is about time on the bike, maybe lengthen some of the midweek rides a little and slowly build the weekend.

I like ticking off the ride routes, getting the badges.
My first weeks were a complete smash with the end of the Tour of Watopia (double XP) and then into the Haute Route which saw over 2hrs a day with climb for 3 days.
I used to struggle to get my HR/power up on a wattbike with no session (just blind peddling like outside) but with the British Cycling race series (Tue and Thu) and other events you can easily hurt yourself!
I have become more disciplined and can now ride in zones, the workouts are very good for this as you don't get a star if you don't hit the numbers!

I tend to just do workouts most of the time at the moment. I kind of miss doing the events sometimes but I still try to tick off the route badges and missions so it's a bit more engaging than just trying to hit the numbers.

Had a go at a ramp test yesterday. Two things learned - I expected it to stop the 1min segments once I’d gone over my limit, but didn’t realise I had to actually stop for it to figure out I was spent. And secondly I probably need to learn how to push myself a little more. Was happy enough to get up to 280w for a minute, which I know is pretty poor really, but at least I‘Ve got a benchmark to compare with.

I did the mountain route for the first time today. Was ok, got to the top looking forward to the descent. I didn’t notice it taking me on a “bonus climb” of 14% gradient.
No problem, I’ll do a u turn. Only it appears you need to be doing 3 mph to do a u turn(?) which I couldn’t actually hit at that point. So I had a hissy fit and stopped 😂
Enjoyed the ride though 😀

Yes despite really wanting to do the weeeeeee down the other side I lost the will to live very quickly. Oh well next time I’ll know to divert myself.
I’m not at level 12 yet but look forward to building up to the Alpe at some point.
