I think I read that you can only do heroic if you've previously done the climb on 100%? I've never actually tried the climb portal though so I'm not sure.

Up to 50% done now after doing the Alpe for the first time in a while. Crikey, doing a steady state ride (effectively) and my legs just went at 45 (well 55 mins if you include the pre-amble.) I obviously need to do the longer rides as doing only rides to 45-50 mins seems my legs are only good for that unsurprisingly. It wasn't exhaustion, my HR remained rock solid level throughout, it was just that marathon feeling of heavy legs kicked in. Having time free to do the longer rides is the issue! (that's why running was good for me :-( )

Dial it back a bit more I guess Chris, I'm sure you'll be fine. There's always the old mountain too if you want something shorter but still good elevation. Starting on the jungle route (road to ruins?) but carrying on up is a good way to get straight into the reverse climb.

I've just got a direct drive trainer as my old school turbo wore out. Really liking the feel and regret not getting one years ago. Roll on a winter of Zwifting :)

I know that feeling, Chris. I'm not sure what precisely you're counting as steady state, but I can definitely appreciate the legs going before the HR rises. I often find it most significant towards the end of big blocks of training (where my HR may get stuck in z2), but it's ever present to some extent.

Time on bike can help, but I also finding taking in a bit of something sweet in your bottle can help, even after that duration - it may be largely psychological at that point, but I find it helps (it's something I've noted more after the couple of times I've had COVID. My body gives subtle signs of wanting sugars earlier in a ride, irrespective if intensity).

Got to level 50, far far quicker than I would have done since before the XP change. When the change came in I was only on 48 and I haven’t done massive mileage by any means.

Yep, I was looking forward to getting the socks :) .I think possibly the next XP carrot to aim for is level 71 (source, Zwift Insider).
