Will check that out over the weekend, then, thanks.

With next year's Chicago in mind, I watched Ben Parkes' guide to Chicago the other night. An all you need to know if you're running it type vid. Very useful and specific to Chicago. I like his simple and accessible delivery.

Ben Parkes' Berlin Marathon video was enjoyable. Just shows that even guys as good as him can have off days. However, I personally wouldn't call 2:55 an off day!

The Running Channel always seem to have one of their presenters doing it. This year, Jess managed to get 2:59 having been about 10 seconds over three hours in 2023. Anna and Sarah did similar videos in previous years but not to an elite standard.

I personally thought that the Melbourne marathon (actually pronounced Melbun in Australia) looked pretty underwhelming in Ben's video. Not much support, poor race planning with the half joining the full late on and causing congestion. Certainly didn't want to make me fly over "the ditch" to take part in it any time soon. I love Melbun by the way, it's a very cool city. I just don't think it looked like that race was as well supported as many other marathons around the world.

If I run a marathon I like it to only be marathon runners in the field. You end up racing the folk doing a half otherwise 😂

Belfast wouldn’t be great for you Ally, and in fact I probably wouldn’t do it again. There were relays, with change overs approximately every 10km. So as a marathoner I’m running along and every so often a few people would sprint past me, comparatively. And there were a large number of relay runners - just checked results from May this year and there were 2368 teams!

Chelmsford's marathon runners now start 30 minutes before the half. This virtually ensures that the half-marathon field doesn't catch up before the routes split prior to mile 5.
