Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Re influencers, it's now worth more money for most (any?) running brands to sponsor them than it is to sponsor a lot of professionals.

Andy Rayner mentioned that brands realise that rather than advertising on Google it may be better to tie up with an influencer in terms of exposure etc.

An elite may turn up at a race every now and again but may not be that active on social media/YouTube. An influencer will go to loads of races and post very regularly.

I find that some “influencers” start to take themselves a bit too seriously after a while tbh. Some are good and more than good, but with some the constant grift wears you down.

Watched a great video there of the Random Runner doing the Tor de Geants. Superb scenery.

Not posted here before, but I’m surprised Al Pepper’s channel hasn’t had a mention yet. Often ultra stuff, although covers other races as well. Good sense of humour. I’ll keep an eye for Random Runner’s Tor de Geants video.

I’d never heard of that place until we were on the way to Fountains Abbey. Well worth a visit.

Quite a nice video from Adam Wood, from Valencia Marathon. He started in the elite area, has a PB of 2:18. Most of the video is the few days prior to the race, with some footage from his wife and bystanders of the race itself. I think him and Canadian Olympian Rory Linkletter (also has a channel) went to the same college - they definitely know each other. Adam’s wife has her own channel, and I think has represented Peru on the track.

I guess he’s technically an amateur/sub-elite, but I don’t think I know any other amateur who scopes out a running track to do a small session at marathon pace whilst abroad in the days before a marathon, so he’s obviously pretty serious!
